Let Ω be an algebraic number field of finite degree, which we fix once for all, and let K be a cyclic extension over Ω such that the degree of K/Ω is a powerof a prime number l. It is obvious that the norm group NK/ΩeK of the unit group ek of K, being a subgroup of the unit group e of Ω contains the groupconsisting of all-th powersof ε∈e.

Consider a homogeneous linear differential equation of the second order whose coefficients are rational functions of the independent variable x over the field C of complex numbers. We assume that the coefficient of the first order derivative vanishes:

We prove a functional equation for a vector valued real analytic Eisenstein series transforming with the Weil representation of $\operatorname{Sp}(n,\mathbb{Z})$ on $\mathbb{C}[(L^{\prime }/L)^{n}]$. By relating such an Eisenstein series with a real analytic Jacobi Eisenstein series of degree $n$, a functional equation for such an Eisenstein series is proved. Employing a doubling method for Jacobi forms of higher degree established by Arakawa, we transfer the aforementioned functional equation to a zeta function defined by the eigenvalues of a Jacobi eigenform. Finally, we obtain the analytic continuation and a functional equation of the standard $L$-function attached to a Jacobi eigenform, which was already proved by Murase, however in a different way.

We show that the generic fiber of a family $f:X\rightarrow S$ of smooth $\mathbb{A}^{1}$-ruled affine surfaces always carries an $\mathbb{A}^{1}$-fibration, possibly after a finite extension of the base $S$. In the particular case where the general fibers of the family are irrational surfaces, we establish that up to shrinking $S$, such a family actually factors through an $\mathbb{A}^{1}$-fibration $\unicode[STIX]{x1D70C}:X\rightarrow Y$ over a certain $S$-scheme $Y\rightarrow S$ induced by the MRC-fibration of a relative smooth projective model of $X$ over $S$. For affine threefolds $X$ equipped with a fibration $f:X\rightarrow B$ by irrational $\mathbb{A}^{1}$-ruled surfaces over a smooth curve $B$, the induced $\mathbb{A}^{1}$-fibration $\unicode[STIX]{x1D70C}:X\rightarrow Y$ can also be recovered from a relative minimal model program applied to a smooth projective model of $X$ over $B$.

For smooth linear group schemes over ℤ, we give a cohomological interpretation of the local Tamagawa measures as cohomological periods. This is in the spirit of the Tamagawa measures for motives defined by Bloch and Kato. We show that in the case of tori, the cohomological and the motivic Tamagawa measures coincide, which proves again the Bloch-Kato conjecture for motives associated to tori.

We shall discuss in this paper some problems in non-linear prediction theory. An Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process {U(t)} is taken to be a basic process, and we shall deal with stochastic processes X(t) that are transformed by functions f satisfying certain condition. Actually, observed processes are expressed in the form X(t) = f(U(t)). Our main problem is to obtain the best non-linear predictor X̂(t, τ) for X(t + τ), τ > 0, assuming that X(s), s ≤t, are observed. The predictor is therefore a non-linear functional of the values X(s), s ≤ t.

We prove a variant of a formula due to Zhang relating the Beilinson– Bloch height of the Gross–Schoen cycle on a pointed curve with the self-intersection of its relative dualizing sheaf. In our approach, the height of the Gross–Schoen cycle occurs as the degree of a suitable Bloch line bundle. We show that the Chern form of this line bundle is nonnegative, and we calculate its class in the Picard group of the moduli space of pointed stable curves of compact type. The basic tools are normal functions and biextensions associated to the cohomology of the universal Jacobian.

In this paper we generalize results of the third paper of this series. As a corollary we can show the following: Let Li (1 ≤ i ≤ n) be a positive definite quadratic form which is equivalent to one of Cartan matrices of Lie algebras of type An (n ≥ 2), Dn (n ≥ 4), E6, E7, E8 and assume that is positive definite quadratic forms and satisfies that rk Mt ≥ 2 and implies rk K or rk L = 1. Then we have n = m and Lt is equivalent to a constant multiple of Ms(i) for some permutation s. Therefore we get the uniqueness of decompositions with respect to tensor products in this case.

H. Sato introduced a Schwarzian derivative of a contactomorphism of ℝ3 and with T. Ozawa described its basic properties. In this note their construction is extended to all odd dimensions and to non-flat contact projective structures. The contact projective Schwarzian derivative of a contact projective structure is defined to be a cocycle of the contactomorphism group taking values in the space of sections of a certain vector bundle associated to the contact structure, and measuring the extent to which a contactomorphism fails to be an automorphism of the contact projective structure. For the flat model contact projective structure, this gives a contact Schwarzian derivative associating to a contactomorphism of ℝ2n−1 a tensor which vanishes if and only if the given contactomorphism is an element of the linear symplectic group acting by linear fractional transformation.

Recently M. Ikeda [1] succeeded in determining the structure of absolutely segregated algebras, i.e. algebras whose 2-cohomology groups all vanish. His beautiful result reads : an algebra A, of finite rank over its ground field, is absolutely segregated if and only if i) the residue-algebra A/N modulo the radical N is separable and, moreover, ii) the A-left-module N is an (Mo)-module. A. simplification was given by H. Nagao [5], who obtained, besides an interesting-result on algebras with vanishing 3-(or higher) cohomology groups, an elegant short proof to the fact that under the assumption of i), the property ii) is necessary, and sufficient, for the absolute segregation of A.

As an application of the boundary parametrization developed in our previous papers, we propose a new method to deduce information on the connected components of the interior of tiles. This gives a systematic way to study the topology of a certain class of self-affine tiles. An example due to Bandt and Gelbrich is examined to prove the efficiency of the method.

The famous Picard theorem states that a holomorphic mapping f: C → P1(C) omitting distinct three points must be constant. Borel [1] showed that a non-degenerate holomorphic curve can miss at most n + 1 hyperplanes in Pn(C) in general position, thus extending Picard’s theorem (n = 1). Recently, Fujimoto [3], Green [4] and [5] obtained many Picard type theorems using Borel’s methods for holomorphic mappings.

Let (M, ν, θ) be a real analytic (2n+1)-dimensional pseudo-hermitian manifold with nondegenerate Levi form and F be a pseudo-hermitian embedding into ℂn+1. We show under certain generic conditions that F satisfies a complete system of finite order. We use a method of prolongation of the tangential Cauchy-Riemann equations and pseudo-hermitian embedding equation. Thus if F ∈ Ck(M) for sufficiently large k, F is real analytic. As a corollary, if M is a real hypersurface in ℂn+1, then F extends holomorphically to a neighborhood of M provided that F is sufficiently smooth.

We compute the Hochschild homology groups of the adiabatic algebra Ψa(X), a deformation of the algebra of pseudodifferential operators Ψ(X) when X is the total space of a fibration of closed manifolds. We deduce the existence and uniqueness of traces on Ψa(X) and some of its ideals and quotients, in the spirit of the noncommutative residue of Wodzicki and Guillemin. We introduce certain higher homological versions of the residue trace. When the base of the fibration is S1, these functionals are related to the η function of Atiyah-Patodi-Singer.

Let S be a compact Riemann surface and let Sn be the surface obtained from S in the course of a pinching deformation. We denote by Γn the quasi-Fuchsian group representing Sn in the Teichmüller space T(Γ), where Γ is a Fuchsian group with U/Γ = S (U: the upper half plane). Then in the previous paper [7] we showed that the limit of the sequence of Γn is a cusp on the boundary ∂T(Γ). In this paper we will consider the case of Schottky space . Let Gn be a Schottky group with Ω(Gn)/Gn = Sn. Then the purpose of this paper is to show what the limit of Gn is.

This paper includes a proof, relative to the consistency of ZFC, of the consistency of ZFC, the continuum has singular cardinality and the extended plus-one hypothesis.
