We study the local topological zeta function associated to a complex function that is holomorphic at the origin of $\mathbb{C}^2$ (respectively $\mathbb{C}^3$). We determine all possible poles less than −1/2 (respectively −1). On $\mathbb{C}^2$ our result is a generalization of the fact that the log canonical threshold is never in ]5/6,1[. Similar statements are true for the motivic zeta function.

This paper contributes to the study of Engel structures and their classification. The main result introduces the notion of a loose family of Engel structures and shows that two such families are Engel homotopic if and only if they are formally homotopic. This implies a complete $h$-principle when auxiliary data is fixed. As a corollary, we show that Lorentz and orientable Cartan prolongations are classified up to homotopy by their formal data.

This paper shows that a nontrivial uniform decay estimate for complete exponential sums modulo pr, determined by a polynomial map ${\bf P} = (P_1, P_2)$ follows from the existence of a ‘good P decomposition’ of ${\mathbb Z}_p^n$, a property that can be proved with geometric methods, and which was introduced in an earlier article by the present author.

We show that there is an essentially unique S-algebra structure on the Morava K-theory spectrum K(n), while K(n) has uncountably many MU or -algebra structures. Here is the K(n)-localized Johnson–Wilson spectrum. To prove this we set up a spectral sequence computing the homotopy groups of the moduli space of A∞ structures on a spectrum, and use the theory of S-algebra k-invariants for connectiveS-algebras found in the work of Dugger and Shipley [Postnikov extensions of ring spectra, Algebr. Geom. Topol. 6 (2006), 1785–1829 (electronic)] to show that all the uniqueness obstructions are hit by differentials.

We investigate the action of the Weil group on the compactly supported $\ell$-adic étale cohomology groups of rigid spaces over a local field. We prove that the alternating sum of the traces of the action is an integer and is independent of $\ell$ when either the rigid space is smooth or the characteristic of the base field is equal to 0. We modify the argument of T. Saito to prove a result on $\ell$-independence for nearby cycle cohomology, which leads to our $\ell$-independence result for smooth rigid spaces. In the general case, we use the finiteness theorem of Huber, which requires the restriction on the characteristic of the base field.

We prove that any nef $b$-divisor class on a projective variety defined over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero is a decreasing limit of nef Cartier classes. Building on this technical result, we construct an intersection theory of nef $b$-divisors, and prove several variants of the Hodge index theorem inspired by the work of Dinh and Sibony. We show that any big and basepoint-free curve class is a power of a nef $b$-divisor, and relate this statement to the Zariski decomposition of curves classes introduced by Lehmann and Xiao. Our construction allows us to relate various Banach spaces contained in the space of $b$-divisors which were defined in our previous work.

Let k be an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, F be an algebraically closed extension of k of transcendence degree one, and G be the group of automorphisms over k of the field F. The purpose of this note is to calculate the group of continuous automorphisms of G.

The geometric Satake correspondence gives an equivalence of categories between the representations of a semisimple group $G$ and the spherical perverse sheaves on the affine Grassmannian $Gr$ of its Langlands dual group. Bezrukavnikov and Finkelberg developed a derived version of this equivalence which relates the derived category of $G^{\vee }$-equivariant constructible sheaves on $Gr$ with the category of $G$-equivariant ${\mathcal{O}}(\mathfrak{g})$-modules. In this paper, we develop a K-theoretic version of the derived geometric Satake which involves the quantum group $U_{q}\mathfrak{g}$. We define a convolution category $K\operatorname{Conv}(Gr)$ whose morphism spaces are given by the $G^{\vee }\times \mathbb{C}^{\times }$-equivariant algebraic K-theory of certain fibre products. We conjecture that $K\operatorname{Conv}(Gr)$ is equivalent to a full subcategory of the category of $U_{q}\mathfrak{g}$-equivariant ${\mathcal{O}}_{q}(G)$-modules. We prove this conjecture when $G=\operatorname{SL}_{n}$. A key tool in our proof is the $\operatorname{SL}_{n}$ spider, which is a combinatorial description of the category of $U_{q}\mathfrak{sl}_{n}$ representations. By applying horizontal trace, we show that the annular $\operatorname{SL}_{n}$ spider describes the category of $U_{q}\mathfrak{sl}_{n}$-equivariant ${\mathcal{O}}_{q}(\operatorname{SL}_{n})$-modules. Then we use quantum loop algebras to relate the annular $\operatorname{SL}_{n}$ spider to $K\operatorname{Conv}(Gr)$. This gives a combinatorial/diagrammatic description of both categories and proves our conjecture.

We construct analogues of Rankin–Selberg integrals for Speh representations of the general linear group over a $p$-adic field. The integrals are in terms of the (extended) Shalika model and are expected to be the local counterparts of (suitably regularized) global integrals involving square-integrable automorphic forms and Eisenstein series on the general linear group over a global field. We relate the local integrals to the classical ones studied by Jacquet, Piatetski-Shapiro and Shalika. We also introduce a unitary structure for Speh representation on the Shalika model, as well as various other models including Zelevinsky’s degenerate Whittaker model.

The cardinality of the set of $D\leqslant x$ for which the fundamental solution of the Pell equation $t^{2}-Du^{2}=1$ is less than $D^{1/2+\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FC}}$ with $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FC}\in [\frac{1}{2},1]$ is studied and certain lower bounds are obtained, improving previous results of Fouvry by introducing the $q$-analogue of van der Corput method to algebraic exponential sums with smooth moduli.

We present a microlocal version of the Riemann–Hilbert correspondence for regular holonomic $\cal D$-modules. We show that a regular holonomic system of microdifferential equations is associated to a perverse sheaf concentrated in degree 0. Moreover, we show that this perverse sheaf can be recovered from the local system it determines on the complementary of its singular locus. We characterize the classes of perverse sheaves and local systems associated to regular holonomic systems of microdifferential equations.

We develop the Springer theory of Weyl group representations in the language of symplectic topology. Given a semisimple complex group G, we describe a Lagrangian brane in the cotangent bundle of the adjoint quotient 𝔤/G that produces the perverse sheaves of Springer theory. The main technical tool is an analysis of the Fourier transform for constructible sheaves from the perspective of the Fukaya category. Our results can be viewed as a toy model of the quantization of Hitchin fibers in the geometric Langlands program.

We discuss a natural action of the center of G on the Gromov–Witten numbers of G/B's and G/P's. This action is suggested by some problems in representation theory. The quantum Schubert calculus of Grassmannians is an easy consequence of this action. We also strengthen a theorem of Fulton and Woodward, in the case of Grasmannians.

Let 𝒱 be a mixed characteristic complete discrete valuation ring with perfect residue field k. We solve Berthelot’s conjectures on the stability of the holonomicity over smooth projective formal 𝒱-schemes. Then we build a category of F-complexes of arithmetic 𝒟-modules over quasi-projective k-varieties with bounded and holonomic cohomology. We obtain its stability under Grothendieck’s six operations.

We show that generically a pseudogroup generated by holomorphic diffeomorphisms defined about $0\in \mathbb{C} $ is free in the sense of pseudogroups even if the class of conjugacy of the generators is fixed. This result has a number of consequences on the topology of leaves for a (singular) holomorphic foliation defined on a neighborhood of an invariant curve. In particular, in the classical and simplest case arising from local nilpotent foliations possessing a unique separatrix which is given by a cusp of the form $\{ {y}^{2} - {x}^{2n+ 1} = 0\} $, our results allow us to settle the problem of showing that a generic foliation possesses only countably many non-simply connected leaves.

If $(G,V)$ is a polar representation with Cartan subspace $\mathfrak{c}$ and Weyl group $W$, it is shown that there is a natural morphism of Poisson schemes $\mathfrak{c}\oplus \mathfrak{c}^{\ast }/W\rightarrow V\oplus V^{\ast }/\!\!/\!\!/G$. This morphism is conjectured to be an isomorphism of the underlying reduced varieties if$(G,V)$ is visible. The conjecture is proved for visible stable locally free polar representations and some other examples.

We establish sufficient conditions for a biextension algebra of a piecewise hereditary algebra of type Ā$_n$ or D$_n$ by indecomposable modules of derived regular length 2 to be of tame representation type.

In this article we establish the arithmetic purity of strong approximation for certain semisimple simply connected linear algebraic groups and their homogeneous spaces over a number field $k$. For instance, for any such group $G$ and for any open subset $U$ of $G$ with ${\mathrm {codim}}(G\setminus U, G)\geqslant 2$, we prove that (i) if $G$ is $k$-simple and $k$-isotropic, then $U$ satisfies strong approximation off any finite number of places; and (ii) if $G$ is the spin group of a non-degenerate quadratic form which is not compact over archimedean places, then $U$ satisfies strong approximation off all archimedean places. As a consequence, we prove that the same property holds for affine quadratic hypersurfaces. Our approach combines a fibration method with subgroup actions developed for induction on the codimension of $G\setminus U$, and an affine linear sieve which allows us to produce integral points with almost-prime polynomial values.

We compute the center of the ring of PD differential operators on a smooth variety over ℤ/pnℤ, confirming a conjecture of Kaledin (private communication). More generally, given an associative algebra A0 over ℤp and its flat deformation An over ℤ/pn+1ℤ, we prove that under a certain non-degeneracy condition, the center of An is isomorphic to the ring of length-(n+1) Witt vectors over the center of A0.
