By using the idea of logarithm, we give an effective method to decide whether a stable series is an endomorphism of a formal group or not. We also give examples that contradict Lubin's conjecture.

It was proved by Ginzburg, Mirkovic and Vilonen that the G(O)-equivariant perverse sheaves on the affine Grassmannian of a connected reductive group G form a tensor category equivalent to the tensor category of finite dimensional representations of the dual group G∧. In this paper we construct explicitly the action of G∧ on the global cohomology of a perverse sheaf.

We prove the genus-one restriction of the all-genus Landau–Ginzburg/Calabi–Yau conjecture of Chiodo and Ruan, stated in terms of the geometric quantization of an explicit symplectomorphism determined by genus-zero invariants. This gives the first evidence supporting the higher-genus Landau–Ginzburg/Calabi–Yau correspondence for the quintic $3$-fold, and exhibits the first instance of the ‘genus zero controls higher genus’ principle, in the sense of Givental’s quantization formalism, for non-semisimple cohomological field theories.

we study some automorphic cohomology classes of degree one on the griffiths–schmid varieties attached to some unitary groups in three variables. using partial compactifications of those varieties, constructed by kato and usui, we define for such a cohomology class some analogues of fourier–shimura coefficients, which are cohomology classes on certain elliptic curves. we show that a large space of such automorphic classes can be generated by those with rational ‘coefficients’. more precisely, we consider those cohomology classes that come from picard modular forms, via some penrose-like transform studied in a previous article: we prove that the coefficients of the classes thus obtained can be computed from the coefficients of the picard form by a similar transform defined at the level of the elliptic curve.

Let $M$ be an irreducible holomorphic symplectic (hyperkähler) manifold. If $b_{2}(M)\geqslant 5$, we construct a deformation $M^{\prime }$ of $M$ which admits a symplectic automorphism of infinite order. This automorphism is hyperbolic, that is, its action on the space of real $(1,1)$-classes is hyperbolic. If $b_{2}(M)\geqslant 14$, similarly, we construct a deformation which admits a parabolic automorphism (and many other automorphisms as well).

Building on Seidel and Solomon’s fundamental work [Symplectic cohomology and$q$-intersection numbers, Geom. Funct. Anal. 22 (2012), 443–477], we define the notion of a $\mathfrak{g}$-equivariant Lagrangian brane in an exact symplectic manifold $M$, where $\mathfrak{g}\subset SH^{1}(M)$ is a sub-Lie algebra of the symplectic cohomology of $M$. When $M$ is a (symplectic) mirror to an (algebraic) homogeneous space $G/P$, homological mirror symmetry predicts that there is an embedding of $\mathfrak{g}$ in $SH^{1}(M)$. This allows us to study a mirror theory to classical constructions of Borel, Weil and Bott. We give explicit computations recovering all finite-dimensional irreducible representations of $\mathfrak{sl}_{2}$ as representations on the Floer cohomology of an $\mathfrak{sl}_{2}$-equivariant Lagrangian brane and discuss generalizations to arbitrary finite-dimensional semisimple Lie algebras.

The Frobenius number $F(\boldsymbol{a})$ of a lattice point $\boldsymbol{a}$ in $\mathbb{R}^{d}$ with positive coprime coordinates, is the largest integer which can not be expressed as a non-negative integer linear combination of the coordinates of $\boldsymbol{a}$. Marklof in [The asymptotic distribution of Frobenius numbers, Invent. Math. 181 (2010), 179–207] proved the existence of the limit distribution of the Frobenius numbers, when $\boldsymbol{a}$ is taken to be random in an enlarging domain in $\mathbb{R}^{d}$. We will show that if the domain has piecewise smooth boundary, the error term for the convergence of the distribution function is at most a polynomial in the enlarging factor.

We present a complex analytic proof of the Pila–Wilkie theorem for subanalytic sets. In particular, we replace the use of $C^{r}$-smooth parametrizations by a variant of Weierstrass division. As a consequence we are able to apply the Bombieri–Pila determinant method directly to analytic families without limiting the order of smoothness by a $C^{r}$ parametrization. This technique provides the key inductive step for our recent proof (in a closely related preprint) of the Wilkie conjecture for sets definable using restricted elementary functions. As an illustration of our approach we prove that the rational points of height $H$ in a compact piece of a complex-analytic set of dimension $k$ in $\mathbb{C}^{m}$ are contained in $O(1)$ complex-algebraic hypersurfaces of degree $(\log H)^{k/(m-k)}$. This is a complex-analytic analog of a recent result of Cluckers, Pila, and Wilkie for real subanalytic sets.

We show that the moduli spaces of stable sheaves on projective schemes admit certain non-commutative structures, which we call quasi-NC structures, generalizing Kapranov’s NC structures. The completion of our quasi-NC structure at a closed point of the moduli space gives a pro-representable hull of the non-commutative deformation functor of the corresponding sheaf developed by Laudal, Eriksen, Segal and Efimov–Lunts–Orlov. We also show that the framed stable moduli spaces of sheaves have canonical NC structures.

Let ϕ be a Drinfeld module of rank 2 over the field of rational functions , with . Let K be a fixed imaginary quadratic field over F and d a positive integer. For each prime of good reduction for ϕ, let be a root of the characteristic polynomial of the Frobenius endomorphism of ϕ over the finite field . Let Πϕ(K;d) be the number of primes of degree d such that the field extension is the fixed imaginary quadratic field K. We present upper bounds for Πϕ(K;d) obtained by two different approaches, inspired by similar ones for elliptic curves. The first approach, inspired by the work of Serre, is to consider the image of Frobenius in a mixed Galois representation associated to K and to the Drinfeld module ϕ. The second approach, inspired by the work of Cojocaru, Fouvry and Murty, is based on an application of the square sieve. The bounds obtained with the first method are better, but depend on the fixed quadratic imaginary field K. In our application of the second approach, we improve the results of Cojocaru, Murty and Fouvry by considering projective Galois representations.

Our aim is to clarify the relationship between Kudla’s and Bruinier’s Green functions attached to special cycles on Shimura varieties of orthogonal and unitary type, which play a key role in the arithmetic geometry of these cycles in the context of Kudla’s program. In particular, we show that the generating series obtained by taking the differences of the two families of Green functions is a non-holomorphic modular form and has trivial (cuspidal) holomorphic projection. Along the way, we construct a section of the Maaß lowering operator for moderate growth forms valued in the Weil representation using a regularized theta lift, which may be of independent interest, as it in particular has applications to mock modular forms. We also consider arithmetic-geometric applications to integral models of $U(n,1)$ Shimura varieties. Each family of Green functions gives rise to a formal arithmetic theta function, valued in an arithmetic Chow group, that is conjectured to be modular; our main result is the modularity of the difference of the two arithmetic theta functions. Finally, we relate the arithmetic heights of the special cycles to special derivatives of Eisenstein series, as predicted by Kudla’s conjecture, and describe a refinement of a theorem of Bruinier, Howard and Yang on arithmetic intersections against CM points.

We prove that the moduli space $\cal A$11lev of <$>(1,11)-polarized Abelian surfaces with level structure of canonical type is birational to Klein's cubic hypersurface in P4. Therefore, $\cal A$11lev is unirational but not rational, and there are no Γ11-cusp forms of weight 3. The same methods also provide an easy proof of the rationality of $\cal A$9lev.

Let $C$ be a smooth, separated and geometrically connected curve over a finitely generated field $k$ of characteristic $p\geqslant 0$ , $\unicode[STIX]{x1D702}$ the generic point of $C$ and $\unicode[STIX]{x1D70B}_{1}(C)$ its étale fundamental group. Let $f:X\rightarrow C$ be a smooth proper morphism, and $i\geqslant 0$ , $j$ integers. To the family of continuous $\mathbb{F}_{\ell }$ -linear representations $\unicode[STIX]{x1D70B}_{1}(C)\rightarrow \text{GL}(R^{i}f_{\ast }\mathbb{F}_{\ell }(j)_{\overline{\unicode[STIX]{x1D702}}})$ (where $\ell$ runs over primes $\neq p$ ), one can attach families of abstract modular curves $C_{0}(\ell )$ and $C_{1}(\ell )$ , which, in this setting, are the analogues of the usual modular curves $Y_{0}(\ell )$ and $Y_{1}(\ell )$ . If $i\not =2j$ , it is conjectured that the geometric and arithmetic gonalities of these abstract modular curves go to infinity with $\ell$ (for the geometric gonality, under a certain necessary condition). We prove the conjecture for the arithmetic gonality of the abstract modular curves $C_{1}(\ell )$ . We also obtain partial results for the growth of the geometric gonality of $C_{0}(\ell )$ and $C_{1}(\ell )$ . The common strategy underlying these results consists in reducing by specialization theory to the case where the base field $k$ is finite in order to apply techniques of counting rational points.

Abstract. Explicit models are constructed for irreducible *-representations of the quantised universal enveloping algebra $U_q({\frak g}{\frak l}(n))$. The irreducible decomposition of these modules with respect to the subalgebra $U_q({\frak g}{\frak l}(n-1))$ is given, and the corresponding spherical and associated spherical elements are determined in terms of little $q$-Jacobi polynomials. This leads to a proof of an addition theorem for the spherical elements, the so-called $q$-disk polynomials.

It is well-known that quasi-homogeneity is characterized by equality of the Milnor and Tjurina numbers for isolated complex analytic hypersurface singularities and for certain low-dimensional singularities. In this paper we prove that this characterization extends to isolated purely elliptic complete intersection singularities, with bounds on neither the embedding codimension nor the dimension of the singularity.

We generalise results of Buzzard, Taylor and Kassaei on analytic continuation of p-adic overconvergent eigenforms over ℚ to the case of p-adic overconvergent Hilbert eigenforms over totally real fields F, under the assumption that p splits completely in F. This includes weight-one forms and has applications to generalisations of Buzzard and Taylor’s main theorem. Next, we follow an idea of Kassaei’s to generalise Coleman’s well-known result that ‘an overconvergent Up-eigenform of small slope is classical’ to the case of p-adic overconvergent Hilbert eigenforms of Iwahori level.

The saturation theorem of Knutson and Tao concerns the nonvanishing of Littlewood–Richardson coefficients. In combination with work of Klyachko, it implies Horn’s conjecture about eigenvalues of sums of Hermitian matrices. This eigenvalue problem has a generalization to majorized sums of Hermitian matrices, due to S. Friedland. We further illustrate the common features between these two eigenvalue problems and their connection to Schubert calculus of Grassmannians. Our main result gives a Schubert calculus interpretation of Friedland’s problem, via equivariant cohomology of Grassmannians. In particular, we prove a saturation theorem for this setting. Our arguments employ the aforementioned work together with recent work of H. Thomas and A. Yong.

Let Mc be the moduli space of semistable torsion-free sheaves of rank 2 with Chern classes c1 = 0 and c2 = c over a K3 surface with generic polarization. When $c=2n\ge 4$ is even, Mc is a singular projective variety which admits a symplectic form, called the Mukai form, on the smooth part. A natural question raised by O'Grady asks if there exists a desingularization on which the Mukai form extends everywhere nondegenerately. In this paper we show that such a desingularization does not exist for many even integers c by computing the stringy Euler numbers.

This paper contributes to the study of Engel structures and their classification. The main result introduces the notion of a loose family of Engel structures and shows that two such families are Engel homotopic if and only if they are formally homotopic. This implies a complete $h$-principle when auxiliary data is fixed. As a corollary, we show that Lorentz and orientable Cartan prolongations are classified up to homotopy by their formal data.

The Dieudonné crystal of a $p$-divisible group over a semiperfect ring $R$ can be endowed with a window structure. If $R$ satisfies a boundedness condition, this construction gives an equivalence of categories. As an application we obtain a classification of $p$-divisible groups and commutative finite locally free $p$-group schemes over perfectoid rings by Breuil–Kisin–Fargues modules if $p\geqslant 3$.
