In this paper, we prove the well-known Erdős–Lax inequality [4] in a sharpened form. As a consequence, another widely used inequality due to Ankeny and Rivlin [1] gets sharpened. These results may be useful in various applications that required the Erdős–Lax and the Ankeny–Rivlin inequalities.

Li et al. [A spectral radius type formula for approximation numbers of composition operators, J. Funct. Anal. 267(12) (2014), 4753-4774] proved a spectral radius type formula for the approximation numbers of composition operators on analytic Hilbert spaces with radial weights and on $H^{p}$ spaces, $p\geq 1$, involving Green capacity. We prove that their formula holds for a wide class of Banach spaces of analytic functions and weights.

In this paper, we mainly introduce some new notions of generalized Bloch type periodic functions namely pseudo Bloch type periodic functions and weighted pseudo Bloch type periodic functions. A Bloch type periodic function may not be Bloch type periodic under certain small perturbations while it can be quasi Bloch type periodic in sense of generalized Bloch type periodic functions. We firstly show the completeness of spaces of generalized Bloch type periodic functions and establish some further properties such as composition and convolution theorems of such functions. We then apply these results to investigate existence results for generalized Bloch type periodic mild solutions to some semi-linear differential equations in Banach spaces. The obtained results show that for each generalized Bloch type periodic input forcing disturbance, the output mild solutions to reference evolution equations remain generalized Bloch type periodic.

In 1991, Chicone and Jacobs showed the equivalence between the computation of the first-order Taylor developments of the Lyapunov constants and the developments of the first Melnikov function near a non-degenerate monodromic equilibrium point, in the study of limit cycles of small-amplitude bifurcating from a quadratic centre. We show that their proof is also valid for polynomial vector fields of any degree. This equivalence is used to provide a new lower bound for the local cyclicity of degree six polynomial vector fields, so $\mathcal {M}(6) \geq 44$. Moreover, we extend this equivalence to the piecewise polynomial class. Finally, we prove that $\mathcal {M}^{c}_{p}(4) \geq 43$ and $\mathcal {M}^{c}_{p}(5) \geq 65.$

We study a variant of the mean curvature flow for closed, convex hypersurfaces where the normal velocity is a non-homogeneous function of the principal curvatures. We show that if the initial hypersurface satisfies a certain pinching condition, then this is preserved and the flow converges to a sphere under rescaling.

Hilbert schemes are an object arising from geometry and are closely related to physics and modular forms. Recently, there have been investigations from number theorists about the Betti numbers and Hodge numbers of the Hilbert schemes of points of an algebraic surface. In this paper, we prove that Göttsche's generating function of the Hodge numbers of Hilbert schemes of $n$ points of an algebraic surface is algebraic at a CM point $\tau$ and rational numbers $z_1$ and $z_2$. Our result gives a refinement of the algebraicity on Betti numbers.

Relations between the Atiyah–Patodi–Singer rho invariant and signatures of links have been known for a long time, but they were only partially investigated. In order to explore them further, we develop a versatile cut-and-paste formula for the rho invariant, which allows us to manipulate manifolds in a convenient way. With the help of this tool, we give a description of the multivariable signature of a link $L$ as the rho invariant of some closed three-manifold $Y_L$ intrinsically associated with $L$. We study then the rho invariant of the manifolds obtained by the Dehn surgery on $L$ along integer and rational framings. Inspired by the results of Casson and Gordon and Cimasoni and Florens, we give formulas expressing this value as a sum of the multivariable signature of $L$ and some easy-to-compute extra terms.

In this paper, we consider the following two-component Schrödiner system

First, we revisit the proof of the existence of an unbounded sequence of non-radial positive vector solutions of synchronized type obtained in S. Peng and Z. Wang [Segregated and synchronized vector solutions for nonlinear Schrödinger systems, Arch. Rational Mech. Anal. 208 (2013), 305–339] to give a point-wise estimate of the solutions. Taking advantage of these estimates, we then show a non-degeneracy result of the synchronized solutions in some suitable symmetric space by use of the locally Pohozaev identities. The main difficulties of BEC systems come from the interspecies interaction between the components, which never appear in the study of single equations. The idea used to estimate the coupling terms is inspired by the characterization of the Fermat points in the famous Fermat problem, which is the main novelty of this paper.

When $p$ is an odd prime, Delbourgo observed that any Kubota–Leopoldt $p$-adic $L$-function, when multiplied by an auxiliary Euler factor, can be written as an infinite sum. We shall establish such expressions without restriction on $p$, and without the Euler factor when the character is non-trivial, by computing the periods of appropriate measures. As an application, we will reprove the Ferrero–Greenberg formula for the derivative $L_p'(0,\chi )$. We will also discuss the convergence of sum expressions in terms of elementary $p$-adic analysis, as well as their relation to Stickelberger elements; such discussions in turn give alternative proofs of the validity of sum expressions.

We prove the existence of exponentially and superexponentially localized breather solutions for discrete nonlinear Klein–Gordon systems. Our approach considers $d$-dimensional infinite lattice models with general on-site potentials and interaction potentials being bounded by an arbitrary power law, as well as, systems with purely anharmonic forces, cases which are much less studied particularly in a higher-dimensional set-up. The existence problem is formulated in terms of a fixed-point equation considered in weighted sequence spaces, which is solved by means of Schauder's Fixed-Point Theorem. The proofs provide energy bounds for the solutions depending on the lattice parameters and its dimension under physically relevant non-resonance conditions.

From any two median spaces $X$ and $Y$, we construct a new median space $X \circledast Y$, referred to as the diadem product of $X$ and $Y$, and we show that this construction is compatible with wreath products in the following sense: given two finitely generated groups $G,\,H$ and two (equivariant) coarse embeddings into median spaces $X,\,Y$, there exist a(n equivariant) coarse embedding $G\wr H \to X \circledast Y$. The construction offers a unified point of view on various questions related to the Hilbertian geometry of wreath products of groups.

Every discrete definable subset of a closed asymptotic couple with ordered scalar field ${\boldsymbol {k}}$ is shown to be contained in a finite-dimensional ${\boldsymbol {k}}$-linear subspace of that couple. It follows that the differential-valued field $\mathbb {T}$ of transseries induces more structure on its value group than what is definable in its asymptotic couple equipped with its scalar multiplication by real numbers, where this asymptotic couple is construed as a two-sorted structure with $\mathbb {R}$ as the underlying set for the second sort.

We establish some existence results for a class of critical $N$-Laplacian problems in a bounded domain in $\mathbb {R}^{N}$. In the absence of a suitable direct sum decomposition of the underlying Sobolev space to which the classical linking theorem can be applied, we use an abstract linking theorem based on the $\mathbb {Z}_2$-cohomological index to obtain a non-trivial critical point.

We complete the classification of the pointed Hopf algebras with finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension that are liftings of the Jordan plane over a nilpotent-by-finite group, correcting the statement in [N. Andruskiewitsch, I. Angiono and I. Heckenberger, Liftings of Jordan and super Jordan planes, Proc. Edinb. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 61(3) (2018), 661–672.].
