We verify a long-standing conjecture on the membership of univalent harmonic mappings in the Hardy space, whenever the functions have a “nice” analytic part. We also produce a coefficient estimate for these functions, which is in a sense best possible. The problem is then explored in a new direction, without the additional hypothesis. Interestingly, our ideas extend to certain classes of locally univalent harmonic mappings. Finally, we prove a Baernstein-type extremal result for the function $\log (h'+cg')$, when $f=h+\overline {g}$ is a close-to-convex harmonic function, and c is a constant. This leads to a sharp coefficient inequality for these functions.

In this paper, we investigate the distributive properties of square-free divisors over square-full integers. We first compute the mean value of the number of such divisors and obtain the error term which appears in its asymptotic formula. We then show that if one assumes the Riemann Hypothesis, then the omega estimate of such an error term can be drastically improved. Finally, we compute the omega estimate of the mean square of such an error term.

The main goal of this paper is to construct universal spaces for asymptotic dimension by generalizing to the coarse context an approach to constructing universal spaces for covering dimension using a factorization result due to Mardesic.

On all Bergman–Besov Hilbert spaces on the unit disk, we find self-adjoint weighted shift operators that are differential operators of half-order whose commutators are the identity, thereby obtaining uncertainty relations in these spaces. We also obtain joint average uncertainty relations for pairs of commuting tuples of operators on the same spaces defined on the unit ball. We further identify functions that yield equality in some uncertainty inequalities.

We first introduce the concept of weak random periodic solutions of random dynamical systems. Then, we discuss the existence of such periodic solutions. Further, we introduce the definition of weak random periodic measures and study their relationship with weak random periodic solutions. In particular, we establish the existence of invariant measures of random dynamical systems by virtue of their weak random periodic solutions. We use concrete examples to illustrate the weak random periodic phenomena of dynamical systems induced by random and stochastic differential equations.

We study the relationship between weak* Dunford–Pettis and weakly (resp. M-weakly, order weakly, almost M-weakly, and almost L-weakly) operators on Banach lattices. The following is one of the major results dealing with this matter: If E and F are Banach lattices such that F is Dedekind $\sigma $-complete, then each positive weak* Dunford–Pettis operator $T:E\rightarrow F$ is weakly compact if and only if one of the following assertions is valid: (a) the norms of $E^{\prime }$ and F are order continuous; (b) E is reflexive; and (c) F is reflexive.

For an elliptic curve E defined over a number field K and $L/K$ a Galois extension, we study the possibilities of the Galois group Gal$(L/K)$, when the Mordell–Weil rank of $E(L)$ increases from that of $E(K)$ by a small amount (namely 1, 2, and 3). In relation with the vanishing of corresponding L-functions at $s=1$, we prove several elliptic analogues of classical theorems related to Artin’s holomorphy conjecture. We then apply these to study the analytic minimal subfield, first introduced by Akbary and Murty, for the case when order of vanishing is 2. We also investigate how the order of vanishing changes as rank increases by 1 and vice versa, generalizing a theorem of Kolyvagin.

Following Faber–Pandharipande, we use the virtual localization formula for the moduli space of stable maps to $\mathbb {P}^{1}$ to compute relations between Hodge integrals. We prove that certain generating series of these integrals are polynomials.

The paper deals with boundedness of solutions and uniform asymptotic stability of the zero solution. In our current undertaking, we aim to solve two open problems that were proposed by the author in his book Qualitative theory of Volterra difference equations (2018, Springer, Cham). Our approach centers on finding the appropriate Lyapunov functional that satisfies specific conditions, incorporating the concept of wedges.

Solving a nonsmooth and nonconvex minimization problem can be approached as finding a zero of a set-valued operator. With this perspective, we propose a novel Majorizer–Minimizer technique to find a local minimizer of a nonsmooth and nonconvex function and establish its convergence. Our approach leverages Bregman distances to generalize the classical quadratic regularization. By doing so, we generate a family of regularized problems that encompasses quadratic regularization as a special case. To further demonstrate the effectiveness of our method, we apply it on a lasso regression model, showcasing its performance.

In this article, we establish three new versions of Landau-type theorems for bounded bi-analytic functions of the form $F(z)=\bar {z}G(z)+H(z)$, where G and H are analytic in the unit disk with $G(0)=H(0)=0$ and $H'(0)=1$. In particular, two of them are sharp, while the other one either generalizes or improves the corresponding result of Abdulhadi and Hajj. As consequences, several new sharp versions of Landau-type theorems for certain subclasses of bounded biharmonic mappings are proved.

Let $(M, F, m)$ be a forward complete Finsler measure space. In this paper, we prove that any nonnegative global subsolution in $L^p(M)(p>1)$ to the heat equation on $\mathbb R^+\times M$ is uniquely determined by the initial data. Moreover, we give an $L^p(0<p\leq 1)$ Liouville-type theorem for nonnegative subsolutions u to the heat equation on $\mathbb R\times M$ by establishing the local $L^p$ mean value inequality for u on M with Ric$_N\geq -K(K\geq 0)$.

Let $\mu $ and $\nu $ be Borel probability measures on complete separable metric spaces X and Y, respectively. Each Borel probability measure $\gamma $ on $X\times Y$ with marginals $\mu $ and $\nu $ can be described through its disintegration $\big ( \gamma _{x}\big )_{x \in X}$ with respect to the initial distribution $\mu .$ Assume that $\mu $ is continuous, i.e., $\mu \big (\{x\}\big )=0$ for all $x \in X.$ We shall analyze the structure of the support of the measure $\gamma $ provided $\text {card } \big (\mathrm{spt} (\gamma _{x}) \big )$ is finitely countable for $\mu $-a.e. $x\in X.$ We shall also provide an application to optimal mass transportation.

The structure of Borel reducibility for equivalence relations on $\omega _1$ is determined.

We investigate Eisenstein congruences between the so-called Euler systems of Garrett–Rankin–Selberg type. This includes the cohomology classes of Beilinson–Kato, Beilinson–Flach, and diagonal cycles. The proofs crucially rely on different known versions of the Bloch–Kato conjecture, and are based on the study of the Perrin-Riou formalism and the comparison between the different p-adic L-functions.

The celebrated Erdős–Ko–Rado (EKR) theorem for Paley graphs of square order states that all maximum cliques are canonical in the sense that each maximum clique arises from the subfield construction. Recently, Asgarli and Yip extended this result to Peisert graphs and other Cayley graphs which are Peisert-type graphs with nice algebraic properties on the connection set. On the other hand, there are Peisert-type graphs for which the EKR theorem fails to hold. In this article, we show that the EKR theorem of Paley graphs extends to almost all pseudo-Paley graphs of Peisert-type. Furthermore, we establish the stability results of the same flavor.

We improve and expand in two directions the theory of norms on complex matrices induced by random vectors. We first provide a simple proof of the classification of weakly unitarily invariant norms on the Hermitian matrices. We use this to extend the main theorem in Chávez, Garcia, and Hurley (2023, Canadian Mathematical Bulletin 66, 808–826) from exponent $d\geq 2$ to $d \geq 1$. Our proofs are much simpler than the originals: they do not require Lewis’ framework for group invariance in convex matrix analysis. This clarification puts the entire theory on simpler foundations while extending its range of applicability.

The article introduces and studies Hausdorff–Berezin operators on the unit ball in a complex space. These operators are a natural generalization of the Berezin transform. In addition, the class of such operators contains, for example, the invariant Green potential, and some other operators of complex analysis. Sufficient and necessary conditions for boundedness in the space of p – integrable functions with Haar measure (invariant with respect to involutive automorphisms of the unit ball) are given. We also provide results on compactness of Hausdorff–Berezin operators in Lebesgue spaces on the unit ball. Such operators have previously been introduced and studied in the context of the unit disc in the complex plane. Present work is a natural continuation of these studies.

If X is a topological space and Y is any set, then we call a family $\mathcal {F}$ of maps from X to Y nowhere constant if for every non-empty open set U in X there is $f \in \mathcal {F}$ with $|f[U]|> 1$, i.e., f is not constant on U. We prove the following result that improves several earlier results in the literature.

If X is a topological space for which $C(X)$, the family of all continuous maps of X to $\mathbb {R}$, is nowhere constant and X has a $\pi $-base consisting of connected sets then X is $\mathfrak {c}$-resolvable.
