In this article, we study a class of convective diffusive elliptic problem with Dirichlet boundary condition and measure data in variable exponent spaces. We begin by introducing an approximate problem via a truncation approach and Yosida’s regularization. Then, we apply the technique of maximal monotone operators in Banach spaces to obtain a sequence of approximate solutions. Finally, we pass to the limit and prove that this sequence of solutions converges to at least one weak or entropy solution of the original problem. Furthermore, under some additional assumptions on the convective diffusive term, we prove the uniqueness of the entropy solution.

We introduce the L-series of weakly holomorphic modular forms using Laplace transforms and give their functional equations. We then determine converse theorems for vector-valued harmonic weak Maass forms, Jacobi forms, and elliptic modular forms of half-integral weight in Kohnen plus space.

We define and study graphs associated to hexagon decompositions of surfaces by curves and arcs. One of the variants is shown to be quasi-isometric to the pants graph, whereas the other variant is quasi-isometric to (a Cayley graph of) the mapping class group.

In this paper, we compare the $\mathbb J$-stratification (or the semi-module stratification) and the Ekedahl–Oort stratification of affine Deligne–Lusztig varieties in the superbasic case. In particular, we classify the cases where the $\mathbb J$-stratification gives a refinement of the Ekedahl–Oort stratification, which include many interesting cases such that the affine Deligne-Lusztig variety admits a simple geometric structure.

This paper considers the planar N-body problem with a quasi-homogeneous potential given by

where $ m_k>0 $ are the masses and $C_{jk}= C_{kj}$ are nonzero real constants, and the exponent g being $ p> $1. Generalizing techniques of the classical N-body problem, we first characterize the periodic solutions that form a regular polygon (relative equilibria) with equal masses ($m_k= m$, $k=1, \ldots , N$) and equal constants $C_{jk}= C$, for all $j, k=1, \ldots , N$ (for short, N-gon solutions). Indeed, for $C>0$ we prove that there exists a unique regular N-gon solution for each fixed positive mass m. In contrast, for the case $C <0$, we demonstrate that there can be a maximum of two distinct regular N-gon solutions for a fixed positive mass m. More precisely, there is a range of values for the mass parameter m for which no solutions of the form of an N-gon exist. Furthermore, we examine the linear stability of these solutions, with a particular focus on the special case $ N=3 $, which is fully characterized.

Motivated by approaches to the word problem for one-relation monoids arising from work of Adian and Oganesian (1987), Guba (1997), and Ivanov, Margolis, and Meakin (2001), we study the submonoid and rational subset membership problems in one-relation monoids and in positive one-relator groups. We give the first known examples of positive one-relator groups with undecidable submonoid membership problem, and we apply this to give the first known examples of one-relation monoids with undecidable submonoid membership problem. We construct several infinite families of one-relation monoids with undecidable submonoid membership problem, including examples that are defined by relations of the form $w=1$ but which are not groups, and examples defined by relations of the form $u=v$ where both of u and v are nonempty. As a consequence, we obtain a classification of the right-angled Artin groups that can arise as subgroups of one-relation monoids. We also give examples of monoids with a single defining relation of the form $aUb = a$ and examples of the form $aUb=aVa$, with undecidable rational subset membership problem. We give a one-relator group defined by a freely reduced word of the form $uv^{-1}$ with $u, v$ positive words, in which the prefix membership problem is undecidable. Finally, we prove the existence of a special two-relator inverse monoid with undecidable word problem, and in which both the relators are positive words. As a corollary, we also find a positive two-relator group with undecidable prefix membership problem. In proving these results, we introduce new methods for proving undecidability of the rational subset membership problem in monoids and groups, including by finding suitable embeddings of certain trace monoids.

Let ${\mathcal {E}}$ be a complex elliptic curve and S be a non-empty finite subset of ${\mathcal {E}}$. We show that the functions $\tilde {\Gamma }$ introduced in [BDDT] out of string theory motivations give rise to a basis (as a vector space) of the minimal algebra $A_{{\mathcal {E}}{\smallsetminus } S}$ of holomorphic multivalued functions on ${\mathcal {E}}{\smallsetminus } S$ which is stable under integration, introduced in [EZ]; this basis is alternative to the basis of $A_{{\mathcal {E}}{\smallsetminus } S}$ constructed in loc. cit. using elliptic analogs of the hyperlogarithm functions.

Definable stationary sets, and specifically, ordinal definable ones, play a significant role in the study of canonical inner models of set theory and the class HOD of hereditarily ordinal definable sets. Fixing a certain notion of definability and an uncountable cardinal, one can consider the associated family of definable closed unbounded sets. In this paper, we study the extent to which such families can approximate the full closed unbounded filter and their dependence on the defining complexity. Focusing on closed unbounded subsets of a cardinal $\kappa $ which are $\Sigma _1$-definable in parameters from H${}_\kappa $ and ordinal parameters, we show that the ability of such closed unbounded sets to well approximate the closed unbounded filter on $\kappa $ can highly vary and strongly depends on key properties of the underlying universe of set theory.

We define oriented Temperley–Lieb algebras for Hermitian symmetric spaces. This allows us to explain the existence of closed combinatorial formulae for the Kazhdan–Lusztig polynomials for these spaces.

We extend the notion of ascent-compatibility from symmetric groups to all Coxeter groups, thereby providing a type-independent framework for constructing families of modules of $0$-Hecke algebras. We apply this framework in type B to give representation–theoretic interpretations of a number of noteworthy families of type-B quasisymmetric functions. Next, we construct modules of the type-B $0$-Hecke algebra corresponding to type-B analogs of Schur functions and introduce a type-B analog of Schur Q-functions; we prove that these shifted domino functions expand positively in the type-B peak functions. We define a type-B analog of the $0$-Hecke–Clifford algebra, and we use this to provide representation–theoretic interpretations for both the type-B peak functions and the shifted domino functions. We consider the modules of this algebra induced from type-B $0$-Hecke modules constructed via ascent-compatibility and prove a general formula, in terms of type-B peak functions, for the type-B quasisymmetric characteristics of the restrictions of these modules.

Two novel algorithms, which incorporate inertial terms and relaxation effects, are introduced to tackle a monotone inclusion problem. The weak and strong convergence of the algorithms are obtained under certain conditions, and the R-linear convergence for the first algorithm is demonstrated if the set-valued operator involved is strongly monotone in real Hilbert spaces. The proposed algorithms are applied to signal recovery problems and demonstrate improved performance compared to existing algorithms in the literature.

We prove a functional version of the additive kinematic formula as an application of the Hadwiger theorem on convex functions together with a Kubota-type formula for mixed Monge–Ampère measures. As an application, we give a new explanation for the equivalence of the representations of functional intrinsic volumes as singular Hessian valuations and as integrals with respect to mixed Monge–Ampère measures. In addition, we obtain a new integral geometric formula for mixed area measures of convex bodies, where integration on $\operatorname {SO}(n-1)\times \operatorname {O}(1)$ is considered.

Let $\overline {M}(a,c,n)$ denote the number of overpartitions of n with first residual crank congruent to a modulo c with $c\geq 3$ being odd and $0\leq a<c$. The central objective of this paper is twofold: firstly, to establish an asymptotic formula for the crank of overpartitions; and secondly, to establish several inequalities concerning $\overline {M}(a,c,n)$ that encompasses crank differences, positivity, and strict log-subadditivity.

We establish bounds for exponential sums twisted by generalized Möbius functions and their convolutions. As an application, we prove asymptotic formulas for certain weighted chromatic partitions by using the Hardy–Littlewood circle method. Lastly, we provide an explicit formula relating the contributions from the major arcs with a sum over the zeros of the Riemann zeta-function.

In this paper, we investigate locally finitely presented pure semisimple (hereditary) Grothendieck categories. We show that every locally finitely presented pure semisimple (resp., hereditary) Grothendieck category $\mathscr {A}$ is equivalent to the category of left modules over a left pure semisimple (resp., left hereditary) ring when $\mathrm {Mod}(\mathrm {fp}(\mathscr {A}))$ is a QF-3 category, and every representable functor in $\mathrm {Mod}(\mathrm {fp}(\mathscr {A}))$ has finitely generated essential socle. In fact, we show that there exists a bijection between Morita equivalence classes of left pure semisimple (resp., left hereditary) rings $\Lambda $ and equivalence classes of locally finitely presented pure semisimple (resp., hereditary) Grothendieck categories $\mathscr {A}$ that $\mathrm {Mod}(\mathrm {fp}(\mathscr {A}))$ is a QF-3 category, and every representable functor in $\mathrm {Mod}(\mathrm {fp}(\mathscr {A}))$ has finitely generated essential socle. To prove this result, we study left pure semisimple rings by using Auslander’s ideas. We show that there exists, up to equivalence, a bijection between the class of left pure semisimple rings and the class of rings with nice homological properties. These results extend the Auslander and Ringel–Tachikawa correspondence to the class of left pure semisimple rings. As a consequence, we give several equivalent statements to the pure semisimplicity conjecture.

In this paper, we study the ranges of the Schwartz space $\mathcal {S}$ and its dual $\mathcal {S}'$ (space of tempered distributions) under the Bargmann transform. The characterization of these two ranges leads to interesting reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces whose reproducing kernels can be expressed, respectively, in terms of the Touchard polynomials and the hypergeometric functions. We investigate the main properties of some associated operators and introduce two generalized Bargmann transforms in this framework. This can be considered as a continuation of an interesting research path that Neretin started earlier in his book on Gaussian integral operators.

Let P be a pointed, closed convex cone in $\mathbb {R}^d$. We prove that for two pure isometric representations $V^{(1)}$ and $V^{(2)}$ of P, the associated CAR flows $\beta ^{V^{(1)}}$ and $\beta ^{V^{(2)}}$ are cocycle conjugate if and only if $V^{(1)}$ and $V^{(2)}$ are unitarily equivalent. We also give a complete description of pure isometric representations of P with commuting range projections that give rise to type I CAR flows. We show that such an isometric representation is completely reducible with each irreducible component being a pullback of the shift semigroup $\{S_t\}_{t \geq 0}$ on $L^2[0,\infty )$. We also compute the index and the gauge group of the associated CAR flows and show that the action of the gauge group on the set of normalized units need not be transitive.

This article explores the notions of $\mathcal {F}$-transitivity and topological $\mathcal {F}$-recurrence for backward shift operators on weighted $\ell ^p$-spaces and $c_0$-spaces on directed trees, where $\mathcal {F}$ represents a Furstenberg family of subsets of $\mathbb {N}_0$. In particular, we establish the equivalence between recurrence and hypercyclicity of these operators on unrooted directed trees. For rooted directed trees, a backward shift operator is hypercyclic if and only if it possesses an orbit of a bounded subset that is weakly dense.

We establish the restricted sumset analog of the celebrated conjecture of Sárközy on additive decompositions of the set of nonzero squares over a finite field. More precisely, we show that if $q>13$ is an odd prime power, then the set of nonzero squares in $\mathbb {F}_q$ cannot be written as a restricted sumset $A \hat {+} A$, extending a result of Shkredov. More generally, we study restricted sumsets in multiplicative subgroups over finite fields as well as restricted sumsets in perfect powers (over integers) motivated by a question of Erdős and Moser. We also prove an analog of van Lint–MacWilliams’ conjecture for restricted sumsets, which appears to be the first analogue of Erdős--Ko–Rado theorem in a family of Cayley sum graphs.

We study scaled topological entropy, scaled measure entropy, and scaled local entropy in the context of amenable group actions. In particular, a variational principle is established.
