Strong unique continuation properties and a classification of the asymptotic profiles are established for the fractional powers of a Schrödinger operator with a Hardy-type potential, by means of an Almgren monotonicity formula combined with a blow-up analysis.

We analyze stability of conservative solutions of the Cauchy problem on the line for the Camassa–Holm (CH) equation. Generically, the solutions of the CH equation develop singularities with steep gradients while preserving continuity of the solution itself. In order to obtain uniqueness, one is required to augment the equation itself by a measure that represents the associated energy, and the breakdown of the solution is associated with a complicated interplay where the measure becomes singular. The main result in this paper is the construction of a Lipschitz metric that compares two solutions of the CH equation with the respective initial data. The Lipschitz metric is based on the use of the Wasserstein metric.

We prove a Carleman estimate for elliptic second-order partial differential expressions with Lipschitz continuous coefficients. The Carleman estimate is valid for any complex-valued function u ∈ W2,2 with support in a punctured ball of arbitrary radius. The novelty of this Carleman estimate is that we establish an explicit dependence on the Lipschitz and ellipticity constants, the dimension of the space and the radius of the ball. In particular, we provide a uniform and quantitative bound on the weight function for a class of elliptic operators given explicitly in terms of ellipticity and Lipschitz constant.

We study non-autonomous parabolic equations with critical exponents in a scale of Banach spaces Eσ, σ ∈ [0,1 + μ). We consider a suitable E1+ε-solution and describe continuation properties of the solution. This concerns both a situation when the solution can be continued as an E1+ε-solution and a situation when the E1+ε-norm of the solution blows up, in which case a piecewise E1+ε-solution is constructed.

To a certain Volevič system of singular partial differential equations, called a Fuchsian system, all the solutions of the homogeneous equation in a complex domain are constructed and parametrized in a good way, without any assumption on the characteristic exponents.

We study singularities of solutions of the heat equation, that are not necessarily isolated but occur only in a single characteristic hyperplane. We prove a decomposition theorem for certain solutions on D+ = D ∩ (Rn × ]0. ∞[), for a suitable open set D, with singularities at compact subset K of Rn × {0}, in terms of Gauss-Weierstrass integrals. We use this to prove a representation theorem for certain solutions on D+, with singularities at K, as the sums of potentials and Dirichlet solutions. We also give conditions under which K is removable for solutions on D∖K.

We give an elementary potential-theoretic proof of a theorem of G. Johnsson: all solutions of Cauchy’s problems for the Laplace equations with an entire data on a sphere extend harmonically to the whole space RN except, perhaps, for the center of the sphere.
