Let $X$ be a compact Kähler manifold, endowed with an effective reduced divisor $B=\sum Y_{k}$ having simple normal crossing support. We consider a closed form of $(1,1)$ -type $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FC}$ on $X$ whose corresponding class $\{\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FC}\}$ is nef, such that the class $c_{1}(K_{X}+B)+\{\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FC}\}\in H^{1,1}(X,\mathbb{R})$ is pseudo-effective. A particular case of the first result we establish in this short note states the following. Let $m$ be a positive integer, and let $L$ be a line bundle on $X$ , such that there exists a generically injective morphism $L\rightarrow \bigotimes ^{m}T_{X}^{\star }\langle B\rangle$ , where we denote by $T_{X}^{\star }\langle B\rangle$ the logarithmic cotangent bundle associated to the pair $(X,B)$ . Then for any Kähler class $\{\unicode[STIX]{x1D714}\}$ on $X$ , we have the inequality

In this paper we construct an action of the affine Hecke category (in its ‘Soergel bimodules’ incarnation) on the principal block of representations of a simply connected semisimple algebraic group over an algebraically closed field of characteristic bigger than the Coxeter number. This confirms a conjecture of G. Williamson and the second author, and provides a new proof of the tilting character formula in terms of antispherical $p$-Kazhdan–Lusztig polynomials.

Let F be a non-Archimedean local field and let p be the residual characteristic of F. Let G=GL2(F) and let P be a Borel subgroup of G. In this paper we study the restriction of irreducible smooth representations of G on -vector spaces to P. We show that in a certain sense P controls the representation theory of G. We then extend our results to smooth -modules of finite length and unitary K-Banach space representations of G, where is the ring of integers of a complete discretely valued field K with residue field .

In this paper, we determine the group of contact transformations modulo contact isotopies for Legendrian circle bundles over closed surfaces of non-positive Euler characteristic. These results extend and correct those presented by the first author in a former work. The main ingredient we use is connectedness of certain spaces of embeddings of surfaces into contact 3-manifolds. This connectedness question is also studied for itself with a number of (hopefully instructive) examples.

Let $\mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{g}\mathfrak{l}_{N}(\Bbbk )$, where $\Bbbk$ is an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p>0$, and $N\in \mathbb{Z}_{{\geqslant}1}$. Let $\unicode[STIX]{x1D712}\in \mathfrak{g}^{\ast }$ and denote by $U_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D712}}(\mathfrak{g})$ the corresponding reduced enveloping algebra. The Kac–Weisfeiler conjecture, which was proved by Premet, asserts that any finite-dimensional $U_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D712}}(\mathfrak{g})$-module has dimension divisible by $p^{d_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D712}}}$, where $d_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D712}}$ is half the dimension of the coadjoint orbit of $\unicode[STIX]{x1D712}$. Our main theorem gives a classification of $U_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D712}}(\mathfrak{g})$-modules of dimension $p^{d_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D712}}}$. As a consequence, we deduce that they are all parabolically induced from a one-dimensional module for $U_{0}(\mathfrak{h})$ for a certain Levi subalgebra $\mathfrak{h}$ of $\mathfrak{g}$; we view this as a modular analogue of Mœglin’s theorem on completely primitive ideals in $U(\mathfrak{g}\mathfrak{l}_{N}(\mathbb{C}))$. To obtain these results, we reduce to the case where $\unicode[STIX]{x1D712}$ is nilpotent, and then classify the one-dimensional modules for the corresponding restricted $W$-algebra.

We apply the methods developed in our previous work to study holomorphic functions of slow growth on coverings of pseudoconvex domains in Stein manifolds. In particular, we extend and strengthen certain results of Gromov, Henkin and Shubin on holomorphic $L^{2}$ functions on coverings of pseudoconvex manifolds in the case of coverings of Stein manifolds.

In this article we study the transitivity of the group of automorphisms of real algebraic surfaces. We characterize real algebraic surfaces with very transitive automorphism groups. We give applications to the classification of real algebraic models of compact surfaces: these applications yield new insight into the geometry of the real locus, proving several surprising facts on this geometry. This geometry can be thought of as a half-way point between the biregular and birational geometries.

In classical number theory, one has the famous theorem of Kummer-Sinnott giving the index of the cyclotomic units in the total unit group. Using the division values of sgn-normalized rank one Drinfeld modules, we construct the group of extended cyclotomic units for an abelian extension of a global function field and calculate its index in the whole unit group. The result could be regarded as an analogue and a generalization of Kummer-Sinnott's.

We consider twisted multivariable zeta series associated to polynomials of several variables. We introduce a new class of polynomials, namely HDF, that contains strictly non-degenerate and hypoelliptic polynomials. For polynomials belonging to the HDF class, we show that we can extend holomorphically our series to $\mathbb{C}^T$. Then, thanks to a new principle called ‘the Exchange Lemma’, we give very simple formulae for the values of our series at $T$-tuples of negative integers. Finally, we make the $p$-adic interpolation of those values. Thus, we have generalized the results of Cassou-Noguès (that she used to construct the $p$-adic $L$-functions of totally real fields) in two ways: we consider multivariable series and our series are associated to more general polynomials. In addition, our proof is completely different.

Let $G$ be a semi-simple algebraic group over an algebraically closed field $k$, whose characteristic is positive and does not divide the order of the Weyl group of $G$, and let $\breve{G}$ be its Langlands dual group over $k$. Let $C$ be a smooth projective curve over $k$ of genus at least two. Denote by $\operatorname{Bun}_{G}$ the moduli stack of $G$-bundles on $C$ and $\operatorname{LocSys}_{\breve{G}}$ the moduli stack of $\breve{G}$-local systems on $C$. Let $D_{\operatorname{Bun}_{G}}$ be the sheaf of crystalline differential operators on $\operatorname{Bun}_{G}$. In this paper we construct an equivalence between the bounded derived category $D^{b}(\operatorname{QCoh}(\operatorname{LocSys}_{\breve{G}}^{0}))$ of quasi-coherent sheaves on some open subset $\operatorname{LocSys}_{\breve{G}}^{0}\subset \operatorname{LocSys}_{\breve{G}}$ and bounded derived category $D^{b}(D_{\operatorname{Bun}_{G}}^{0}\text{-}\text{mod})$ of modules over some localization $D_{\operatorname{Bun}_{G}}^{0}$ of $D_{\operatorname{Bun}_{G}}$. This generalizes the work of Bezrukavnikov and Braverman in the $\operatorname{GL}_{n}$ case.

We factor the virtual Poincaré polynomial of every homogeneous space G/H, where G is a complex connected linear algebraic group and H is an algebraic subgroup, as $t^{2u} (t^2-1)^r Q_{G/H}(t^2)$ for a polynomial $Q_{G/H}$ with nonnegative integer coefficients. Moreover, we show that $Q_{G/H}(t^2)$ divides the virtual Poincaré polynomial of every regular embedding of G/H, if H is connected.

We give the fermionic character formulas for the spaces of coinvariants obtained from level k integrable representations of $\widehat {\frak sl}_2$. We establish the functional realization of the spaces dual to the coinvariant spaces. We parameterize functions in the dual spaces by rigged partitions, and prove the recursion relations for the sets of rigged partitions.

We study tautological rings for high-dimensional manifolds, that is, for each smooth manifold $M$ the ring $R^{\ast }(M)$ of those characteristic classes of smooth fibre bundles with fibre $M$ which is generated by generalised Miller–Morita–Mumford classes. We completely describe these rings modulo nilpotent elements, when $M$ is a connected sum of copies of $S^{n}\times S^{n}$ for $n$ odd.

We study ultrametric germs in one variable having an irrationally indifferent fixed point at the origin with a prescribed multiplier. We show that for many values of the multiplier, the cycles in the unit disk of the corresponding monic quadratic polynomial are ‘optimal’ in the following sense: they minimize the distance to the origin among cycles of the same minimal period of normalized germs having an irrationally indifferent fixed point at the origin with the same multiplier. We also give examples of multipliers for which the corresponding quadratic polynomial does not have optimal cycles. In those cases we exhibit a higher-degree polynomial such that all of its cycles are optimal. The proof of these results reveals a connection between the geometric location of periodic points of ultrametric power series and the lower ramification numbers of wildly ramified field automorphisms. We also give an extension of Sen’s theorem on wildly ramified field automorphisms, and a characterization of minimally ramified power series in terms of the iterative residue.

We develop and study the epsilon factor of a ‘local system’ of p-adic coefficients over the spectrum of a complete discrete valuation field K with finite residue field of characteristic p>0. In the equal characteristic case, we define the epsilon factor of an overconvergent F-isocrystal over Spec(K), using the p-adic monodromy theorem. We conjecture a global formula, the p-adic product formula, analogous to Deligne’s formula for étale ℓ-adic sheaves proved by Laumon, which explains the importance of this local invariant. Namely, for an overconvergent F-isocrystal over an open subset of a projective smooth curve X, the constant of the functional equation of the L-series is expressed as a product of the local epsilon factors at the points of X. We prove the conjecture for rank-one overconvergent F-isocrystals and for finite unit-root overconvergent F-isocrystals. In the mixed characteristic case, we study the behavior of the epsilon factor by deformation to the field of norms.

Let $K$ be a number field. For any system of semisimple mod $\ell$ Galois representations $\{{\it\phi}_{\ell }:\text{Gal}(\bar{\mathbb{Q}}/K)\rightarrow \text{GL}_{N}(\mathbb{F}_{\ell })\}_{\ell }$ arising from étale cohomology (Definition 1), there exists a finite normal extension $L$ of $K$ such that if we denote ${\it\phi}_{\ell }(\text{Gal}(\bar{\mathbb{Q}}/K))$ and ${\it\phi}_{\ell }(\text{Gal}(\bar{\mathbb{Q}}/L))$ by $\bar{{\rm\Gamma}}_{\ell }$ and $\bar{{\it\gamma}}_{\ell }$, respectively, for all $\ell$ and let $\bar{\mathbf{S}}_{\ell }$ be the $\mathbb{F}_{\ell }$-semisimple subgroup of $\text{GL}_{N,\mathbb{F}_{\ell }}$ associated to $\bar{{\it\gamma}}_{\ell }$ (or $\bar{{\rm\Gamma}}_{\ell }$) by Nori’s theory [On subgroups of$\text{GL}_{n}(\mathbb{F}_{p})$, Invent. Math. 88 (1987), 257–275] for sufficiently large $\ell$, then the following statements hold for all sufficiently large $\ell$.

A(i) The formal character of $\bar{\mathbf{S}}_{\ell }{\hookrightarrow}\text{GL}_{N,\mathbb{F}_{\ell }}$ (Definition 1) is independent of $\ell$ and equal to the formal character of $(\mathbf{G}_{\ell }^{\circ })^{\text{der}}{\hookrightarrow}\text{GL}_{N,\mathbb{Q}_{\ell }}$, where $(\mathbf{G}_{\ell }^{\circ })^{\text{der}}$ is the derived group of the identity component of $\mathbf{G}_{\ell }$, the monodromy group of the corresponding semi-simplified $\ell$-adic Galois representation ${\rm\Phi}_{\ell }^{\text{ss}}$.

A(ii) The non-cyclic composition factors of $\bar{{\it\gamma}}_{\ell }$ and $\bar{\mathbf{S}}_{\ell }(\mathbb{F}_{\ell })$ are identical. Therefore, the composition factors of $\bar{{\it\gamma}}_{\ell }$ are finite simple groups of Lie type of characteristic $\ell$ and are cyclic groups.

B(i) The total $\ell$-rank $\text{rk}_{\ell }\bar{{\rm\Gamma}}_{\ell }$ of $\bar{{\rm\Gamma}}_{\ell }$ (Definition 14) is equal to the rank of $\bar{\mathbf{S}}_{\ell }$ and is therefore independent of $\ell$.

B(ii) The $A_{n}$-type $\ell$-rank $\text{rk}_{\ell }^{A_{n}}\bar{{\rm\Gamma}}_{\ell }$ of $\bar{{\rm\Gamma}}_{\ell }$ (Definition 14) for $n\in \mathbb{N}\setminus \{1,2,3,4,5,7,8\}$ and the parity of $(\text{rk}_{\ell }^{A_{4}}\bar{{\rm\Gamma}}_{\ell })/4$ are independent of $\ell$.

Suppose that $O=\mathbb{F}_q[\pi ]$ is a polynomial ring and $R$ is a commutative unitary $O$-algebra. The category of finite flat group schemes over $R$ with a strict action of $O$ was recently introduced by Faltings and appears as an equal characteristic analogue of the classical category of finite flat group schemes in the equal characteristic case. In this paper we obtain a classification of these modules and apply it to prove analogues of properties that were known earlier for classical group schemes.

Let us consider the locus in the moduli space of curves of genus $2k$ defined by curves with a pencil of degree $k$. Since the Brill–Noether number is equal to $- 2$, such a locus has codimension two. Using the method of test surfaces, we compute the class of its closure in the moduli space of stable curves.

In this paper we will give necessary conditions for a Borel-fixed monomial ideal to be the generic initial ideal of a reduced, irreducible, non-degenerate curve in $P^3$.

In this paper, we propose a conjectural identity between the Fourier–Jacobi periods on symplectic groups and the central value of certain Rankin–Selberg $L$-functions. This identity can be viewed as a refinement to the global Gan–Gross–Prasad conjecture for $\text{Sp}(2n)\times \text{Mp}(2m)$. To support this conjectural identity, we show that when $n=m$ and $n=m\pm 1$, it can be deduced from the Ichino–Ikeda conjecture in some cases via theta correspondences. As a corollary, the conjectural identity holds when $n=m=1$ or when $n=2$, $m=1$ and the automorphic representation on the bigger group is endoscopic.
