This journal uses ScholarOne for online submission and peer review. ScholarOne is a “comprehensive workflow-management system for scholarly journals, books and conferences”. Further information on ScholarOne can be found here. Queries can be directed to the Editors in Chief, Okeoghene Odudu and Emilija Leinarte ([email protected]).
To submit a manuscript in Scholar One, go to the Author Portal and click "Start New Submission."
Step 1: Type, Title, & Abstract
- Title: descriptive, clear and reflects the manuscript focus
- Abstract: Up to 100 words. The purpose of the Abstract is to identify the subject matter of the article and to summarise the distinctive contribution to the literature which the article makes.
- Special Issue: Select the special issue you are submitting to, if any
Step 2: File Upload
Upload as many files as needed for your manuscript in groups of three or fewer. These files will be combined into a single PDF document for the peer review process. To designate the order in which your files appear, use the dropdowns in the "order" column below. If you are submitting a revision, please include only the latest set of files. There is no need to re-upload the original files again.
Review Preparing your Manuscript before uploading the files.
Please upload the following files:
- Title page: The title page should include the manuscript title, author information, up to seven keywords, and an abstract of up to 100 words.
- Main Document: This file should be anonymised and be in Word format. Articles should be between 9,000 and 12,000 words.
- Figures: Submitting your illustrations, pictures and other artwork (such as multimedia and supplementary files) in an electronic format helps us produce your work to the best possible standards, ensuring accuracy, clarity, accessibility, and a high level of detail.
- Supplementary Materials: Material that is not essential to understanding or supporting a manuscript, but which may nonetheless be relevant or interesting to readers, may be submitted as supplementary material.
Step 3: Attributes
Please enter at least one keyword for your submission.
Step 4: Authors & Institutions
Use the search bar to search for the email address of each co-author. If they do not have an account, an option will appear to create a new co-author. Any co-authors you create will be notified that they have been added to you submission. Please fill out name, institution and any ORCiD information.
Step 5: Reviewers
Please list any recommended or opposed reviewers.
Step 6: Details & Comments
Please fill out the required information.
Step 7: Review & Submit
Review each section ensuring its accuracy. View PDF Proof, save the pdf (it will take some time for the system to generate the pdf).
You can use the Author Dashboard to check on the status of your submission at any time.
ORCID
We encourage authors to identify themselves using ORCID when submitting a manuscript to this journal. ORCID provides a unique identifier for researchers and, through integration with key research workflows such as manuscript submission and grant applications, provides the following benefits:
- Discoverability: ORCID increases the discoverability of your publications, by enabling smarter publisher systems and by helping readers to reliably find work that you have authored.
- Convenience: As more organisations use ORCID, providing your iD or using it to register for services will automatically link activities to your ORCID record, and will enable you to share this information with other systems and platforms you use, saving you re-keying information multiple times.
- Keeping track: Your ORCID record is a neat place to store and (if you choose) share validated information about your research activities and affiliations.
See our ORCID FAQs for more information. If you don’t already have an iD, you can create one by registering directly at https://ORCID.org/register.
ORCIDs can also be used if authors wish to communicate to readers up-to-date information about how they wish to be addressed or referred to (for example, they wish to include pronouns, additional titles, honorifics, name variations, etc.) alongside their published articles. We encourage authors to make use of the ORCID profile’s “Published Name” field for this purpose. This is entirely optional for authors who wish to communicate such information in connection with their article. Please note that this method is not currently recommended for author name changes: see Cambridge’s author name change policy if you want to change your name on an already published article. See our ORCID FAQs for more information.
Licence to publish
Before Cambridge can publish your manuscript, we need a signed licence to publish agreement. Under the agreement, certain rights are granted to the journal owner which allow publication of the article. The original ownership of the copyright in the article remains unchanged. For full details see the publishing agreement page.
