A quantum Frobenius map a la Lusztig for \mathfrak{s}\mathfrak{l}_{2}$\mathfrak{s}\mathfrak{l}_{2}$ is categorified at a prime root of unity.

For each discriminant D>1$D>1$, McMullen constructed the Prym–Teichmüller curves W_{D}(4)$W_{D}(4)$ and W_{D}(6)$W_{D}(6)$ in {\mathcal{M}}_{3}${\mathcal{M}}_{3}$ and {\mathcal{M}}_{4}${\mathcal{M}}_{4}$, which constitute one of the few known infinite families of geometrically primitive Teichmüller curves. In the present paper, we determine for each D$D$ the number and type of orbifold points on W_{D}(6)$W_{D}(6)$. These results, together with a previous result of the two authors in the genus 3$3$ case and with results of Lanneau–Nguyen and Möller, complete the topological characterisation of all Prym–Teichmüller curves and determine their genus. The study of orbifold points relies on the analysis of intersections of W_{D}(6)$W_{D}(6)$ with certain families of genus 4$4$ curves with extra automorphisms. As a side product of this study, we give an explicit construction of such families and describe their Prym–Torelli images, which turn out to be isomorphic to certain products of elliptic curves. We also give a geometric description of the flat surfaces associated to these families and describe the asymptotics of the genus of W_{D}(6)$W_{D}(6)$ for large D$D$.

We determine the Galois representations inside the \ell$\ell$-adic cohomology of some quaternionic and related unitary Shimura varieties at ramified places. The main results generalize the previous works of Reimann and Kottwitz in this setting to arbitrary levels at p$p$, and confirm the expected description of the cohomology due to Langlands and Kottwitz.

We apply the spectral curve topological recursion to Dubrovin’s universal Landau–Ginzburg superpotential associated to a semi-simple point of any conformal Frobenius manifold. We show that under some conditions the expansion of the correlation differentials reproduces the cohomological field theory associated with the same point of the initial Frobenius manifold.

We show how the quantum trace map of Bonahon and Wong can be constructed in a natural way using the skein algebra of Muller, which is an extension of the Kauffman bracket skein algebra of surfaces. We also show that the quantum Teichmüller space of a marked surface, defined by Chekhov–Fock (and Kashaev) in an abstract way, can be realized as a concrete subalgebra of the skew field of the skein algebra.

We compute the involutive Heegaard Floer homology of the family of three-manifolds obtained by plumbings along almost-rational graphs. (This includes all Seifert fibered homology spheres.) We also study the involutive Heegaard Floer homology of connected sums of such three-manifolds, and explicitly determine the involutive correction terms in the case that all of the summands have the same orientation. Using these calculations, we give a new proof of the existence of an infinite-rank subgroup in the three-dimensional homology cobordism group.

By studying the theory of rational curves, we introduce a notion of rational simple connectedness for projective homogeneous spaces. As an application, we prove that over a function field of an algebraic surface over an algebraically closed field, a variety whose geometric generic fiber is a projective homogeneous space admits a rational point if and only if the elementary obstruction vanishes.

(Torsion in the cohomology of Kottwitz–Harris–Taylor Shimura varieties) When the level at l$l$ of a Shimura variety of Kottwitz–Harris–Taylor is not maximal, its cohomology with coefficients in a \overline{\mathbb{Z}}_{l}$\overline{\mathbb{Z}}_{l}$-local system isn’t in general torsion free. In order to prove torsion freeness results of the cohomology, we localize at a maximal ideal \mathfrak{m}$\mathfrak{m}$ of the Hecke algebra. We then prove a result of torsion freeness resting either on \mathfrak{m}$\mathfrak{m}$ itself or on the Galois representation \overline{\unicode[STIX]{x1D70C}}_{\mathfrak{m}}$\overline{\unicode[STIX]{x1D70C}}_{\mathfrak{m}}$ associated to it. Concerning the torsion, in a rather restricted case than Caraiani and Scholze (« On the generic part of the cohomology of compact unitary Shimura varieties », Preprint, 2015), we prove that the torsion doesn’t give new Satake parameters systems by showing that each torsion cohomology class can be raised in the free part of the cohomology of a Igusa variety.

We prove a positive characteristic version of Ax’s theorem on the intersection of an algebraic subvariety and an analytic subgroup of an algebraic group [Ax, Some topics in differential algebraic geometry. I. Analytic subgroups of algebraic groups, Amer. J. Math.94 (1972), 1195–1204]. Our result is stated in a more general context of a formal map between an algebraic variety and an algebraic group. We derive transcendence results of Ax–Schanuel type.

This paper sets up the foundations for derived algebraic geometry, Goerss–Hopkins obstruction theory, and the construction of commutative ring spectra in the abstract setting of operadic algebras in symmetric spectra in an (essentially) arbitrary model category. We show that one can do derived algebraic geometry a la Toën–Vezzosi in an abstract category of spectra. We also answer in the affirmative a question of Goerss and Hopkins by showing that the obstruction theory for operadic algebras in spectra can be done in the generality of spectra in an (essentially) arbitrary model category. We construct strictly commutative simplicial ring spectra representing a given cohomology theory and illustrate this with a strictly commutative motivic ring spectrum representing higher order products on Deligne cohomology. These results are obtained by first establishing Smith’s stable positive model structure for abstract spectra and then showing that this category of spectra possesses excellent model-theoretic properties: we show that all colored symmetric operads in symmetric spectra valued in a symmetric monoidal model category are admissible, i.e., algebras over such operads carry a model structure. This generalizes the known model structures on commutative ring spectra and \text{E}_{\infty }$\text{E}_{\infty }$-ring spectra in simplicial sets or motivic spaces. We also show that any weak equivalence of operads in spectra gives rise to a Quillen equivalence of their categories of algebras. For example, this extends the familiar strictification of \text{E}_{\infty }$\text{E}_{\infty }$-rings to commutative rings in a broad class of spectra, including motivic spectra. We finally show that operadic algebras in Quillen equivalent categories of spectra are again Quillen equivalent. This paper is also available at arXiv:1410.5699v2.

Let \widetilde{\text{Sp}}(2n)$\widetilde{\text{Sp}}(2n)$ be the metaplectic covering of \text{Sp}(2n)$\text{Sp}(2n)$ over a local field of characteristic zero. The core of the theory of endoscopy for \widetilde{\text{Sp}}(2n)$\widetilde{\text{Sp}}(2n)$ is the geometric transfer of orbital integrals to its elliptic endoscopic groups. The dual of this map, called the spectral transfer, is expected to yield endoscopic character relations which should reveal the internal structure of L$L$-packets. As a first step, we characterize the image of the collective geometric transfer in the non-archimedean case, then reduce the spectral transfer to the case of cuspidal test functions by using a simple stable trace formula. In the archimedean case, we establish the character relations and determine the spectral transfer factors by rephrasing the works by Adams and Renard.

Let E_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}}$E_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}}$ be the Legendre family of elliptic curves. Given n$n$ points P_{1},\ldots ,P_{n}\in E_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}}(\overline{\mathbb{Q}(\unicode[STIX]{x1D706})})$P_{1},\ldots ,P_{n}\in E_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}}(\overline{\mathbb{Q}(\unicode[STIX]{x1D706})})$, linearly independent over \mathbb{Z}$\mathbb{Z}$, we prove that there are at most finitely many complex numbers \unicode[STIX]{x1D706}_{0}$\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}_{0}$ such that E_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}_{0}}$E_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}_{0}}$ has complex multiplication and P_{1}(\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}_{0}),\ldots ,P_{n}(\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}_{0})$P_{1}(\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}_{0}),\ldots ,P_{n}(\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}_{0})$ are linearly dependent over End(E_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}_{0}})$(E_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}_{0}})$. This implies a positive answer to a question of Bertrand and, combined with a previous work in collaboration with Capuano, proves the Zilber–Pink conjecture for a curve in a fibered power of an elliptic scheme when everything is defined over \overline{\mathbb{Q}}$\overline{\mathbb{Q}}$.

In this paper, we consider how to express an Iwahori–Whittaker function through Demazure characters. Under some interesting combinatorial conditions, we obtain an explicit formula and thereby a generalization of the Casselman–Shalika formula. Under the same conditions, we compute the transition matrix between two natural bases for the space of Iwahori fixed vectors of an induced representation of a p$p$-adic group; this corrects a result of Bump–Nakasuji.

We show that any n$n$-dimensional Fano manifold X$X$ with \unicode[STIX]{x1D6FC}(X)=n/(n+1)$\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FC}(X)=n/(n+1)$ and n\geqslant 2$n\geqslant 2$ is K-stable, where \unicode[STIX]{x1D6FC}(X)$\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FC}(X)$ is the alpha invariant of X$X$ introduced by Tian. In particular, any such X$X$ admits Kähler–Einstein metrics and the holomorphic automorphism group \operatorname{Aut}(X)$\operatorname{Aut}(X)$ of X$X$ is finite.

Using recent results by Măcinic, Papadima and Popescu, and a refinement of an older construction of ours, we determine the monodromy action on H^{1}(F(G),\mathbb{C})$H^{1}(F(G),\mathbb{C})$, where F(G)$F(G)$ denotes the Milnor fiber of a hyperplane arrangement associated to an irreducible complex reflection group G$G$.

In the framework of Berthelot’s theory of arithmetic {\mathcal{D}}${\mathcal{D}}$-modules, we prove the p$p$-adic analogue of Betti number estimates and we give some standard applications.

Let G$G$ be a group hyperbolic relative to a finite collection of subgroups {\mathcal{P}}${\mathcal{P}}$. Let {\mathcal{F}}${\mathcal{F}}$ be the family of subgroups consisting of all the conjugates of subgroups in {\mathcal{P}}${\mathcal{P}}$, all their subgroups, and all finite subgroups. Then there is a cocompact model for E_{{\mathcal{F}}}G$E_{{\mathcal{F}}}G$. This result was known in the torsion-free case. In the presence of torsion, a new approach was necessary. Our method is to exploit the notion of dismantlability. A number of sample applications are discussed.

In this paper we study certain sheaves of p$p$-adically complete rings of differential operators on semistable models of the projective line over the ring of integers in a finite extension L$L$ of \mathbb{Q}_{p}$\mathbb{Q}_{p}$. The global sections of these sheaves can be identified with (central reductions of) analytic distribution algebras of wide open congruence subgroups. It is shown that the global sections functor furnishes an equivalence between the categories of coherent module sheaves and finitely presented modules over the distribution algebras. Using the work of M. Emerton, we then describe admissible representations of \text{GL}_{2}(L)$\text{GL}_{2}(L)$ in terms of sheaves on the projective limit of these formal schemes. As an application, we show that representations coming from certain equivariant line bundles on Drinfeld’s first étale covering of the p$p$-adic upper half plane are admissible.

Let \overline{X}$\overline{X}$ be a separated scheme of finite type over a field k$k$ and D$D$ a non-reduced effective Cartier divisor on it. We attach to the pair (\overline{X},D)$(\overline{X},D)$ a cycle complex with modulus, those homotopy groups – called higher Chow groups with modulus – generalize additive higher Chow groups of Bloch–Esnault, Rülling, Park and Krishna–Levine, and that sheafified on \overline{X}_{\text{Zar}}$\overline{X}_{\text{Zar}}$ gives a candidate definition for a relative motivic complex of the pair, that we compute in weight 1$1$. When \overline{X}$\overline{X}$ is smooth over k$k$ and D$D$ is such that D_{\text{red}}$D_{\text{red}}$ is a normal crossing divisor, we construct a fundamental class in the cohomology of relative differentials for a cycle satisfying the modulus condition, refining El Zein’s explicit construction of the fundamental class of a cycle. This is used to define a natural regulator map from the relative motivic complex of (\overline{X},D)$(\overline{X},D)$ to the relative de Rham complex. When \overline{X}$\overline{X}$ is defined over \mathbb{C}$\mathbb{C}$, the same method leads to the construction of a regulator map to a relative version of Deligne cohomology, generalizing Bloch’s regulator from higher Chow groups. Finally, when \overline{X}$\overline{X}$ is moreover connected and proper over \mathbb{C}$\mathbb{C}$, we use relative Deligne cohomology to define relative intermediate Jacobians with modulus J_{\overline{X}|D}^{r}$J_{\overline{X}|D}^{r}$ of the pair (\overline{X},D)$(\overline{X},D)$. For r=\dim \overline{X}$r=\dim \overline{X}$, we show that J_{\overline{X}|D}^{r}$J_{\overline{X}|D}^{r}$ is the universal regular quotient of the Chow group of 0$0$-cycles with modulus.

For the group G=\operatorname{PGL}_{2}$G=\operatorname{PGL}_{2}$ we perform a comparison between two relative trace formulas: on the one hand, the relative trace formula of Jacquet for the quotient T\backslash G/T$T\backslash G/T$, where T$T$ is a nontrivial torus, and on the other the Kuznetsov trace formula (involving Whittaker periods), applied to nonstandard test functions. This gives a new proof of the celebrated result of Waldspurger on toric periods, and suggests a new way of comparing trace formulas, with some analogies to Langlands’ ‘Beyond Endoscopy’ program.
