On a New Ciliate, Balantidium Knowlesii, sp. nov., a Coelomic Parasite in Culicoides peregrinus

The parasite herein described was found in the coelomic cavity of Culicoides peregrinus by Mr A. R. O. Smith, of the Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, and was brought to me for identification. It is named after the Teacher of Protozoology, Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine. Numerous specimens with several undergoing ordinary transverse fission were observed.
