Metal hydrides for clean energy applications. This issue of MRS Bulletin highlights metal hydrides for hydrogen storage for use in various clean energy applications. Metal hydrides also have applications beyond hydrogen storage, such as lithium-ion battery separators and anode materials. These are anticipated to enable renewable energy and grid technologies and help improve energy efficiencies in the buildings and transportation sectors. The cover shows the hydrogen cycle representing the hydrogen economy for which metal hydrides would play a crucial role. See the technical theme that begins on page 452.
