We develop a geometric method to establish the existence and uniqueness of equilibrium states associated to some Hölder potentials for center isometries (as are regular elements of Anosov actions), in particular, the entropy maximizing measure and the SRB measure. A characterization of equilibrium states in terms of their disintegrations along stable and unstable foliations is also given. Finally, we show that the resulting system is isomorphic to a Bernoulli scheme.

We show that the bicategory of finite groupoids and right-free permutation bimodules is a quotient of the bicategory of Mackey 2-motives introduced in [2], obtained by modding out the so-called cohomological relations. This categorifies Yoshida’s theorem for ordinary cohomological Mackey functors and provides a direct connection between Mackey 2-motives and the usual blocks of representation theory.

We study conjugacy classes of germs of nonflat diffeomorphisms of the real line fixing the origin. Based on the work of Takens and Yoccoz, we establish results that are sharp in terms of differentiability classes and order of tangency to the identity. The core of all of this lies in the invariance of residues under low-regular conjugacies. This may be seen as an extension of the fact (also proved in this article) that the value of the Schwarzian derivative at the origin for germs of $C^3$ parabolic diffeomorphisms is invariant under $C^2$ parabolic conjugacy, though it may vary arbitrarily under parabolic $C^1$ conjugacy.

Valuation rings and perfectoid rings are examples of (usually non-Noetherian) rings that behave in some sense like regular rings. We give and study an extension of the concept of regular local rings to non-Noetherian rings so that it includes valuation and perfectoid rings and it is related to Grothendieck’s definition of formal smoothness as in the Noetherian case. For that, we have to take into account the topologies. We prove a descent theorem for regularity along flat homomorphisms (in fact for homomorphisms of finite flat dimension), extending some known results from the Noetherian to the non-Noetherian case, as well as generalizing some recent results in the non-Noetherian case, such as the descent of regularity from perfectoid rings by B. Bhatt, S. Iyengar and L. Ma.

Loday’sassembly maps approximate the K-theory of group rings by the K-theory of the coefficient ring and the corresponding homology of the group. We present a generalisation that places both ingredients on the same footing. Building on Elmendorf–Mandell’s multiplicativity results and our earlier work, we show that the K-theory of Lawvere theories is lax monoidal. This result makes it possible to present our theory in a user-friendly way without using higher-categorical language. It also allows us to extend the idea to new contexts and set up a nonabelian interpolation scheme, raising novel questions. Numerous examples illustrate the scope of our extension.

Kobayashi–Ochiai proved that the set of dominant maps from a fixed variety to a fixed variety of general type is finite. We prove the natural extension of their finiteness theorem to Campana’s orbifold pairs.

We introduce a category of filtered F-isocrystals and construct a symbol map from Milnor K-theory to the group of 1-extensions of filtered F-isocrystals. We show that our symbol map is compatible with the syntomic symbol map to the log syntomic cohomology by Kato and Tsuji. These are fundamental materials in our computations of syntomic regulators which we work in other papers.

We study the symplectic geometry of derived intersections of Lagrangian morphisms. In particular, we show that for a functional $f : X \rightarrow \mathbb {A}_{k}^{1}$, the derived critical locus has a natural Lagrangian fibration $\textbf {Crit}(f) \rightarrow X$. In the case where f is nondegenerate and the strict critical locus is smooth, we show that the Lagrangian fibration on the derived critical locus is determined by the Hessian quadratic form.

We consider the equivariant Kasparov category associated to an étale groupoid, and by leveraging its triangulated structure we study its localization at the ‘weakly contractible’ objects, extending previous work by R. Meyer and R. Nest. We prove the subcategory of weakly contractible objects is complementary to the localizing subcategory of projective objects, which are defined in terms of ‘compactly induced’ algebras with respect to certain proper subgroupoids related to isotropy. The resulting ‘strong’ Baum–Connes conjecture implies the classical one, and its formulation clarifies several permanence properties and other functorial statements. We present multiple applications, including consequences for the Universal Coefficient Theorem, a generalized ‘going-down’ principle, injectivity results for groupoids that are amenable at infinity, the Baum–Connes conjecture for group bundles, and a result about the invariance of K-groups of twisted groupoid $C^*$-algebras under homotopy of twists.

We study hermitian operators and isometries on spaces of vector-valued Lipschitz maps with the sum norm. There are two main theorems in this paper. Firstly, we prove that every hermitian operator on $\operatorname {Lip}(X,E)$, where E is a complex Banach space, is a generalized composition operator. Secondly, we give a complete description of unital surjective complex linear isometries on $\operatorname {Lip}(X,\mathcal {A})$, where $\mathcal {A}$ is a unital factor $C^{*}$-algebra. These results improve previous results stated by the author.

We prove stronger variants of a multiplier theorem of Kislyakov. The key ingredients are based on ideas of Kislyakov and the Kahane–Salem–Zygmund inequality. As a by-product, we show various multiplier theorems for spaces of trigonometric polynomials on the n-dimensional torus $\mathbb {T}^n$ or Boolean cubes $\{-1,1\}^N$. Our more abstract approach based on local Banach space theory has the advantage that it allows to consider more general compact abelian groups instead of only the multidimensional torus. As an application, we show that various recent $\ell _1$-multiplier theorems for trigonometric polynomials in several variables or ordinary Dirichlet series may be proved without the Kahane–Salem–Zygmund inequality.

Dans cet article, nous étudions la cohomologie de de Rham du premier revêtement de la tour de Drinfel’d. En particulier, nous obtenons une preuve purement locale du fait que la partie supercuspidale réalise la correspondance de Jacquet-Langlands locale pour $\mathrm {GL}_n$ en la comparant à la cohomologie rigide de certaines variétés de Deligne-Lusztig. Les représentations obtenues sont analogues à celles qui apparaissent dans la cohomologie $\ell $-adique lorsqu’on oublie l’action du groupe de Weil. La preuve repose sur une généralisation d’un résultat d’excision de Grosse-Klönne et de la description explicite du premier revêtement en tant que revêtement cyclique obtenu par l’auteur dans un travail précédent.

Let K be an imaginary quadratic field and $p\geq 5$ a rational prime inert in K. For a $\mathbb {Q}$-curve E with complex multiplication by $\mathcal {O}_K$ and good reduction at p, K. Rubin introduced a p-adic L-function $\mathscr {L}_{E}$ which interpolates special values of L-functions of E twisted by anticyclotomic characters of K. In this paper, we prove a formula which links certain values of $\mathscr {L}_{E}$ outside its defining range of interpolation with rational points on E. Arithmetic consequences include p-converse to the Gross–Zagier and Kolyvagin theorem for E.

A key tool of the proof is the recent resolution of Rubin’s conjecture on the structure of local units in the anticyclotomic ${\mathbb {Z}}_p$-extension $\Psi _\infty $ of the unramified quadratic extension of ${\mathbb {Q}}_p$. Along the way, we present a theory of local points over $\Psi _\infty $ of the Lubin–Tate formal group of height $2$ for the uniformizing parameter $-p$.

We prove some $\ell $-independence results on local constancy of étale cohomology of rigid analytic varieties. As a result, we show that a closed subscheme of a proper scheme over an algebraically closed complete non-archimedean field has a small open neighbourhood in the analytic topology such that, for every prime number $\ell $ different from the residue characteristic, the closed subscheme and the open neighbourhood have the same étale cohomology with ${\mathbb Z}/\ell {\mathbb Z}$-coefficients. The existence of such an open neighbourhood for each $\ell $ was proved by Huber. A key ingredient in the proof is a uniform refinement of a theorem of Orgogozo on the compatibility of the nearby cycles over general bases with base change.

We study the compatibility of the action of the DAHA of type GL with two inverse systems of polynomial rings obtained from the standard Laurent polynomial representations. In both cases, the crucial analysis is that of the compatibility of the action of the Cherednik operators. Each case leads to a representation of a limit structure (the +/– stable limit DAHA) on a space of almost symmetric polynomials in infinitely many variables (the standard representation). As an application, we show that the defining representation of the double Dyck path algebra arises from the standard representation of the +stable limit DAHA.

We investigate the groups of units of one-relator and special inverse monoids. These are inverse monoids which are defined by presentations, where all the defining relations are of the form $r=1$. We develop new approaches for finding presentations for the group of units of a special inverse monoid, and apply these methods to give conditions under which the group admits a presentation with the same number of defining relations as the monoid. In particular, our results give sufficient conditions for the group of units of a one-relator inverse monoid to be a one-relator group. When these conditions are satisfied, these results give inverse semigroup theoretic analogues of classical results of Adjan for one-relator monoids, and Makanin for special monoids. In contrast, we show that in general these classical results do not hold for one-relator and special inverse monoids. In particular, we show that there exists a one-relator special inverse monoid whose group of units is not a one-relator group (with respect to any generating set), and we show that there exists a finitely presented special inverse monoid whose group of units is not finitely presented.

We prove that real topological Hochschild homology $\mathrm {THR}$ for schemes with involution satisfies base change and descent for the ${\mathbb {Z}/2}$-isovariant étale topology. As an application, we provide computations for the projective line (with and without involution) and the higher-dimensional projective spaces.

We construct an unfolding path in Outer space which does not converge in the boundary, and instead it accumulates on the entire 1-simplex of projectivized length measures on a nongeometric arational ${\mathbb R}$-tree T. We also show that T admits exactly two dual ergodic projective currents. This is the first nongeometric example of an arational tree that is neither uniquely ergodic nor uniquely ergometric.

Clausen a prédit que le groupe des classes d’idèles de Chevalley d’un corps de nombres F apparaît comme le premier K-groupe de la catégorie des F-espaces vectoriels localement compacts. Cela s’est avéré vrai, et se généralise même aux groupes K supérieurs dans un sens approprié. Nous remplaçons F par une $\mathbb {Q}$-algèbre semi-simple, et obtenons le groupe des classes d’idèles noncommutatif de Fröhlich de manière analogue, modulo les éléments de norme réduite une. Même dans le cas du corps de nombres, notre preuve est plus simple que celle existante, et repose sur le théorème de localisation pour des sous-catégories percolées. Enfin, en utilisant la théorie des corps de classes, nous interprétons la loi de réciprocité d’Hilbert (ainsi qu’une variante noncommutative) en termes de nos résultats.

Clausen predicted that Chevalley’s idèle class group of a number field F appears as the first K-group of the category of locally compact F-vector spaces. This has turned out to be true and even generalizes to the higher K-groups in a suitable sense. We replace F by a semisimple $\mathbb {Q}$-algebra and obtain Fröhlich’s noncommutative idèle class group in an analogous fashion, modulo the reduced norm one elements. Even in the number field case, our proof is simpler than the existing one and based on the localization theorem for percolating subcategories. Finally, using class field theory as input, we interpret Hilbert’s reciprocity law (as well as a noncommutative variant) in terms of our results.

We categorify the commutation of Nakajima’s Heisenberg operators $P_{\pm 1}$ andtheir infinitely many counterparts in the quantum toroidal algebra $U_{q_1,q_2}(\ddot {gl_1})$ acting on the Grothendieck groups of Hilbert schemes from [10, 24, 26, 32]. By combining our result with [26], one obtains a geometric categorical $U_{q_1,q_2}(\ddot {gl_1})$ action on the derived category of Hilbert schemes. Our main technical tool is a detailed geometric study of certain nested Hilbert schemes of triples and quadruples, through the lens of the minimal model program, by showing that these nested Hilbert schemes are either canonical or semidivisorial log terminal singularities.
