Meet Professor Jian Zhang, First Editor, British Journal of Nutrition
Professor Jian Zhang is the director of elderly nutrition department from National Institute for Nutrition and Health, China CDC. He has been engaged in the research for diet, nutrition and NCD prevention in Elderly population for nearly 30 years. As the principle investigator, he has accomplished several national and international research programs, and awarded by Chinese Nutrition Society for first team prize in 2006, and by Chinese Preventive Medicine Society for 1st,2nd and 3rd team prize in 2009,2011,2021 respectively. As the first or corresponding author, he has published more than 70 papers.

Dr. Yulan Liu is a professor of School of Animal Science and Nutritional Engineering, Wuhan Polytechnic University. She was awarded as “National May 1st Labor Medal”, and received “National Natural Science Foundation for Outstanding Young Scholars” and et al. Dr. Liu is a deputy editor of British Journal of Nutrition and an editorial board member of Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology, Journal of Nutritional Science, Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition and etc. Dr. Liu’s research area focuses on animal nutrition, immunity and gastrointestinal health, and development of antibiotic substitutes. Until now, Dr. Liu has presided over more than 40 national and provincial scientific research projects, and won more than 10 scientific awards such as Hubei Provincial Scientific Progress Award (first-class). Dr. Liu has published over than 160 peer review papers in the journals such as Trends in Cell Biology, Cell Death & Disease, The Journal of Nutrition, Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry, British Journal of Nutrition and et al. She is included in the World's Top 2% Scientists 2022 and 2023.
