R. Michael Alvarez has taught at the California Institute of Technology his entire career, focusing on elections, voting behavior, election technology, and research methodologies. He has written or edited a number of books (recently, Computational Social Science:  Discovery and Prediction, and Evaluating Elections: A Handbook of Methods and Standards) and numerous academic articles and reports. 

Betsy Sinclair is Professor and Chair of Political Science at Washington University in St Louis. Her research focuses on social influence and American political behavior. She is a fellow of the Society of Political Methodology and has served as an associate editor of Political Analysis and in leadership roles in The Society of Political Methodology and Visions in Political Methodology.
