All submissions must be made through the online submissions site. Submitted papers must not be under consideration by any other journal or other publishing venue. Any form of annotation and referencing may be used for the original submission, but accepted papers must be revised to conform to Utilitas house style.
Authors can download the Utilitas style sheet here. Please note that this was updated (September 2019):
Preference will be given to submissions that fall within or engage with the consequentialist tradition in moral and political thought. Higher standards will be applied to articles over 8,000 words (including notes), and no papers longer than 10,000 words will be considered. In addition to original articles, Utilitas also publishes focused replies to published work, including in some cases papers published elsewhere and books. Replies may be no longer than 4,500 words including notes.
