Non destructive techniques like scanning infrared microscopy and light beam induced current mapping are used to reveal the presence of stacking faults in heat treated Czochralski grown silicon wafers. In oxidized or contaminated samples, scanning infrared microscopy reveals that stacking faults grow around oxygen precipitates. This could be due to an aggregation of silicon self-interstitials emitted by the growing precipitates in the (111) plane. Light beam induced current maps show that the dislocations which surround the stacking faults are the main source of recombination centers, especially when they are decorated by a fast diffuser like copper.

Dielectric measurement characteristics such as the dissipation factor, relative permittivity and conductivity as a function of temperature and frequency have been achieved on composite materials based on different epoxy resins filled with alumina inclusions. The analysis of the results show the presence of porosity and inhomogeneity in these materials. The study of the dissipation factor, as a function of temperature at high frequencies, has shown an unexpected absorption phenomenon in materials designed to be utilized as electrical insulators. The identification of the entities responsible for this relaxation shows that the entities result from one of the components of the material. These results can also confirm the inhomogeneity of the materials.

Une méthode d'obtention de couches minces photoconductrices de MoSe2  a été mise au point. Ces couches sont obtenues à partir d'une structure multicouches Mo/Se/Mo/Se...Mo/Se déposée sur une fine couche de Ni. À l'issue d'un traitement thermique on a montré que des couches minces stœchiométriques, texturées et photoconductrices sont obtenues.

Les supraconducteurs à haute température critique ouvrent des perspectives prometteuses dans le domaine de l'électronique en raison de la maîtrise de la croissance de films minces de haute qualité cristalline et physique, malgré des difficultés spécifiques. Des dispositifs, aussi bien actifs que passifs, commencent à être réalisés dans divers laboratoires, montrant que des applications peuvent être effectivement envisagées à relativement court terme.

Crystalline Ni3B samples have been irradiated with GeV heavy ions (from 16O to 238U) at low temperature in order to study the damage induced in this compound by ion electronic energy loss. Electrical resistance measurements were performed in situ during irradiation and during annealing. Subsequent X-ray diffraction data and transmission electron microscopy observations reveal a change of the radiation damage process as a function of the electronic stopping power (dE/dx)e. At low (dE/dx)e isolated defects are created, while at high (dE/dx)e irradiation generates continuous amorphous tracks. Amorphous inclusions (discontinuous tracks) are most likely formed in the intermediate (dE/dx)e range. The amorphous phase induced by swift heavy ion irradiation, different from that formed by quenching techniques, is unstable at room temperature over a period of a few months.

A 120 kV / 200 ns / 13 J transmission line generator building is accurately studied. A design method for achieving compact and reliable Blumlein generators is elaborated and validated by three realizations. In order to estimate the transmission line transformer amplification and droop, a set of equations is established and a new simplified gain expression is suggested. Another set of equations to characterize the secondary parasitic lines is settled. By turning it to account, an innovating building method using iron powder to reduce the transmission line transformer parasitic effects, is proposed. In this case, the transmission line generator energy yield reaches 93%.

This paper describes a method for modelling the printed conductors employed in high-frequency (range 10 kHz-1 MHz), medium-power (several kW) static converters, in order to simulate their conducted interference emissions. The principle of this method is to divide the circuit's layout into elementary rectangles. These rectangles are then substituted by a bundle of thin cylindrical wires. Afterwards, it becomes possible to determine an electrical equivalent circuit for each bundle, which integrates inductive, capacitive and resistive effects. In the first section of this paper, the theoretical development, with respect to a single rectangular conductor, is presented. The printed conductor and the thin-wire bundle equivalence conditions are then specified in the second section, and the validity of this principle is experimentally verified. The third section is devoted to modelling the coupling phenomena between two printed conductors. Special attention has been paid to separating strong and negligible couplings, in order both to reduce the computing time and to extract equivalent circuits for a complex layout. Quantitative coupling criteria, based on geometrical and current quantities, are proposed; they establish the complexity of the equivalent circuits and thereby the simulation time. The paper's final section focuses on the experimental aspects of this research work. A chopper has been developed on a PCB. Experimental and theoretical results are also compared: the impedance curves of the entire circuit and the conducted emission spectrum of the converter are presented and discussed. The role played by the PCB in the conducted EMI is clearly revealed and allows the designer to optimise the printed circuit pattern.

A linear relationship is found between peak position and peak width for the X-ray diffraction peaks of MgO very small crystallites. The sign of the peak shift is explained. The peak shape is asymmetrical, the more asymmetrical the broader it is. The second Heisenberg's uncertainty relation is reinterpreted.

Le grand intérêt suscité par les matériaux à structure fractale ces dernières décennies nous a conduits à étudier tout particulièrement le comportement électrique d'échantillons métalliques dont les motifs sont du type “Arbre fractal”. Les caractéristiques singulières de ces structures telles l'autosimilarité et la dimension fractionnaire Df confèrent des propriétés physiques particulières à ces matériaux. L'analyse de ces structures est envisagée en réalisant un condensateur de type MIS (Métal-Isolant-Semi-conducteur) dont une des armatures présente une dimension fractionnaire, l'autre est plane et l'isolant est un oxyde de silicium (SiO2). Les simulations et les mesures effectuées ont permis de mettre en évidence sur l'impédance d'une telle structure, une évolution fréquentielle étroitement corrélée à la structure même de l'échantillon. Ce comportement que l'on qualifiera par la suite de “fractal”, peut se résumer ainsi : soumis à une excitation électrique à fréquence variable, cet échantillon se caractérise par une impédance complexe qui, à partir d'une fréquence caractéristique, présente une phase constante c'est-à-dire que ses parties réelle et imaginaire ont la même loi de dépendance fréquentielle. L'étude que nous présentons concerne d'une part, la mise en évidence de ce comportement et d'autre part, les conditions permettant d'ajuster la plage de fréquence sur laquelle ce comportement apparaît.

Les systèmes électriques ou électromécaniques doivent satisfaire à des spécifications de plus en plus contraignantes qui nécessitent la mise au point de structures de commande non linéaires. Parmi celles-ci, la commande par logique floue constitue une alternative intéressante et performante. Son principal handicap réside dans le nombre très important de paramètres à régler. Dans cet article, nous nous proposons de systématiser ces réglages dans deux cas de figure. Tout d'abord nous utiliserons la méthodologie des plans d'expérimentations pour effectuer un réglage sur site d'un contrôleur flou de type proportionnel-intégral. Ce réglage sera obtenu en ne réalisant qu'un nombre limité d'essais expérimentaux en boucle fermée avec des combinaisons prédéfinies des paramètres à régler. La combinaison optimale de ces paramètres au sens d'un critère de type IAE (Intégrale de la valeur Absolue de l'Erreur) sera déduite de l'exploitation des résultats des essais. Dans un deuxième temps, nous proposerons des réglages prédéfinis et optimisés (au sens du même critère) d'un contrôleur flou de type proportionnel-intégral-dérivé. Ces réglages préétablis ne nécessiteront qu'un seul essai d'identification du système à contrôler en boucle ouverte et peuvent donc se rapprocher des méthodologies classiques et éprouvées de réglage sur site que constituent les réglages de Ziegler-Nichols ou de Broïda pour des contrôleurs conventionnels. Dans cet article, les jeux de paramètres préétablis que nous fournirons seront valables pour des systèmes dont la réponse indicielle en boucle ouverte est modélisable sous la forme d'une fonction de transfert du premier ordre plus un retard pur. Les limites de validité de cette méthode seront précisées.

Shock wave generation from laser-produced plasma in water confinement regime for an incident 25–30 ns / 40 J / λ = 1.064 µm laser beam has been studied. Transmitivity measurement of the parasitic plasma breakdown at the surface of water confinement has been performed with a continuous laser probe. Above 6 GW/cm2 incident laser intensity, the critical electronic density for the laser wavelength is achieved inside the plasma by cascade ionization during the pulse duration. Above 10 GW/cm2, peak power density transmitted through the plasma saturates. The laser pulse transmitted through the breakdown plasma corresponds to the part of incident laser pulse preceding the transmission cut-off.

It is shown that the production of electrons by the laser-gas interaction, described in a previous paper [1], at a given position in the interelectrode gap of a DC electrical discharge, is responsible for a transient current associated to the displacement of the running point on the current-voltage characteristic. A theoretical model of the laser-induced current impulse, in good agreement with experiments, is proposed in the case of homogeneous field. Some macroscopic coefficients, like first and second ionization coefficients, or electrons and ions velocities, are examined. The estimated values are compared with ones found in the literature. The theory in homogeneous field, well supported by the experiments, allows to give a qualitative interpretation to the laser-induced current impulse in inhomogeneous field (point-to-plane geometry). As a result, depending on the location of the running point on the I−V characteristic and on the laser energy available for photon-ionization, it is shown that the laser-gas interaction is an accurate and effective technique for the investigation of the fundamental processes involved in each electrical state of the discharge (townsend discharge, self-sustained discharge, glow discharge) and in the transition from a state to another (for example, avalanche-to-streamer transition).
