Is space a neglected topic in mainstream economics?

Summary
This paper aims at providing a possible explanation for the seemingly peripheral role played by spatial economics in modern economic theory. It considers successively five points of view according to which space is introduced in economic models and assesses their contributions and limits.
Cet article vise à proposer une explication de la place en apparence secondaire que l'économie géographique occupe dans I'analyse économique moderne. Il examine successivement cinq modalités d'introduction de l'espace dans les modèles économiques et évalue leurs apports et limites.
