A new flagellate of the genus Proteromonas Kunstler, 1883, from an Indian lizard

Extract
A new flagellate, Proteromonas hemidactyli sp.nov., is described from the large intestine of the lizard, Hemidactylus brooki, in Hyderabad, India. It is characterized by a long, slender and fusiform body, two similar but subequal flagella, a kidney-shaped sub-blepharoplastic body, a ribbon-like paranuclear body and a vesicular nucleus. A parabasal body is absent.
