On species of the genus Capillaria Zeder, 1800 (Nematoda) from British domestic fowl

Extract

Four species of the genus Capillaria—C. anatis, C. bursata, C. caudinflata and C. obsignata—are described from the domestic fowl. C. bursata constitutes a new species record for Britain. Taxonomic problems concerning these species in particular, and of Capillaria species in general, are discussed in the light of experience gained from the present study.

This work was carried out during the tenure of a British Egg Marketing Board research studentship and is part of a thesis accepted by the University of London for the Ph.D. degree.
