The review process is the foundation of this journal, and we rely on it to maintain both the quality of the research and discourse we publish and to serve the growing community of scholars with which we engage. Irrespective of the perceived merits or faults of a manuscript, we expect all reviews to maintain a courteous and professional tone and to engage meaningfully and constructively with the work presented. Reviews determined by the editorial board to contain hostile, unconstructive, or unprofessional language, tone, or content will be returned to the reviewer for amendment or disqualified at our discretion.
Peer review is the foundation of quality in research for both books and journals, ensuring that published research is rigorous and ethical. Peer reviewers can access a number of resources to assist them with their peer reviewing duties:
- How to peer review journal articles: a practical introduction to conducting peer reviews, especially for those who are new to the process
- Ethics in peer review
- Online peer review systems, and how to anonymously annotate manuscripts
- Peer review FAQs
The journal administrator is also happy to help with any queries regarding undertaking peer review assignments. Please contact the Editorial Office with any questions.
