Founded by the Association for the Study of Modern Italy (ASMI) in 1995, Modern Italy publishes leading research on the history, politics and social, economic and cultural life of Italy and the Italian peoples from the eighteenth century to the present. All articles are rigorously peer-reviewed, and the journal also publishes themed special issues, recent examples of which are Visual and material legacies of fascist colonialism; Italian populism, ideology, culture and history; Environment and Italianness: Socio-natures on the Move; Italians Beyond Italy/Italy Beyond Italians: Transnational Cultural Strategies and the Construction of Identities.
