Journal of Law and Courts uses double-anonymous peer review. Neither author nor reviewers know the identity of each other. Each submitted manuscript is initially screened by Editor to check that it contains all required elements and is formatted correctly. The manuscript is then reviewed by the Editor to determine if it is appropriate for the journal and meets the standard for external review. The manuscript is then either returned to the author or sent out for external review by at least three qualified scholars in the field. On the basis of those reviews and their own evaluation, the editor then makes a decision to reject, request revisions, or accept the manuscript. For many manuscripts, the editors may request more than one round of revision.

Appeals

To appeal an editorial decision, contact the Editor and specify the reason for your appeal. Your appeal will be reviewed by the Editor together with another member of the editorial team who was not involved in the review of the manuscript. The final decision regarding your appeal will rest with the Editor.
