Fourth IO Editorial Cafe - May 2024
Date:
Location: Virtual

The fourth IO Editorial Cafe was be held virtually on May 20, 2024.

International Organization’s editorial team announces the fourth IO Editorial Café.  This year’s Café took place virtually. We hope that this will facilitate broader participation. The café was held on May 20, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time (UTC-4).

Purpose: The editors and editorial board members of International Organization will give feedback on selected papers with the goal of helping authors prepare their work for submission to IO or other selective journals. We hope to make the expectations and review process of IO more transparent. Acceptance to the IO Café does not constitute any commitment on the part of IO to publish a paper nor does it constitute a commitment from the author to submit the paper to IO.

Format: We will group papers by (broadly) substantive themes. Each editorial team or board member will be paired with approximately four papers in a break-out room. We ask that authors grouped together read one another’s papers in preparation for the discussion.

Eligibility: Papers that have already been submitted to IO are ineligible. We will prioritize submissions from authors who have not yet published in IO. We particularly encourage submissions from authors who do not have access to editorial board members at their home institutions; early career scholars; and those who have traditionally been underrepresented in IO, such as scholars based outside of North America and Europe .

How to apply: Please submit your application, including a full draft of the paper, by March 31, 2024, using this google form.  Please make sure to include the abstract on the paper submission itself as well as in the separate field on the form. We will inform you by April 15, 2024 whether your proposal has been accepted.  Those accepted will have the opportunity to revise their submissions, with completed papers due by May 10, 2024 at the latest.
