Job Opening: European Psychiatry Social Media Editor
European Psychiatry seeks a Social Media Editor who will maintain the journal’s social media account and other digital platforms to disseminate the journal’s content and enhance its online reach and reputation.
European Psychiatry is the official journal of the European Psychiatric Association. The journal has the dual role of publishing state-of-the-art articles on all aspects of mental health and promoting the work of the Association through the publication of guidance and position papers.
General Responsibilities
1. To liaise with the Editors-in-Chief of European Psychiatry and the publishers, Cambridge University Press & Assessment, and participate in meetings with the Editors and Publishers as appropriate
2. To liaise with the central office of the European Psychiatric Association to ensure the seamless promotion of the journal on the digital platforms managed by the Association including the Association’s Twitter account (@Euro_Psychiatry)
3. To liaise with the marketing teams of Cambridge University Press & Assessment to promote the journal around relevant events such as ‘Peer Review Week’, ‘Mental Health Week’, etc., and engage with relevant Cambridge social media accounts (e.g. @CambUP_Psych)
4. To promote the journal’s content through the journal’s Twitter account (@EP_Editors), including editors’ choice articles and guidance papers produced by the Association as well as article collections
5. To develop strategies for increasing the social media presence of the journal (e.g., hashtags; retweets; working with authors to promote their articles through their own Twitter and other digital media outlets)
6. To review the impact and growth of the Journal’s social media presence through appropriate analytics (Twitter analytics/Altmetrics)
7. To adhere at all times to standards of professionalism expected from a member of the board of an academic journal
Eligibility
The role is suitable for a mental health professional with an interest in psychiatric publishing. Applicants:
1. Must be either a member of the European Psychiatric Association or a member of a National Psychiatric Association (NPA) that participates in the European Psychiatric Association (a list of participating NPAs can be found at https://www.europsy.net/npa-members/)
2. Have a good grasp of English
3. Be able to understand the content and significance of papers
4. Be aware of social media rules of etiquette
5. Be familiar with social media and digital platforms
6. Be creative in finding novel ways to promote the Journal
Remuneration
This is an unpaid position. Successful applicants will receive financial support from the European Psychiatric Association to attend the Association’s annual Congress and discounts in purchasing books published by Cambridge University Press & Assessment.
