The Tractatus de Regibus, in spite of its title, is very far from being a conventional Miroir; hence neither Berges nor Kleinecke had any reason to be interested in it. One may express surprise, however, that neither Arnold nor Matthew, both of whom knew of the existence of the manuscript, should have published it in their collections of the works of Wyclif.

The manuscript and its contents Bodleian Library, Oxford, Douce MS. 273 is only part of a former volume which included Douce 273 and 274. The original volume contained five items.

The De Quadripartita Regis Specie is to be found in Bodleian Library, Oxford, Bodley MS. 581, a manuscript well known for its beautiful illuminations.

The manuscript and its contents The manuscript is inadequately described in the Bodleian Library atalogue. It contains eight items, nos. 5, 6 and 7 being closely related.

(i) An introductory Libellum, the beginning of which is worth quoting from the present manuscript (fos. 9v–11r): Prime omnium bonorum cause, soli deo, benediccio, laus, honor et gloria, a cuius incomparabili sapiencia rerum naturalium cognicio humano generi, nobilioribus anime potenciis, aliis animalibus in dicto proporcionata, divini thesauri distribucione piissime largitur. De facili igitur cognicione pronosticabilis sciencie, que per motus, constellaciones et influencias celestium maxime perficitur, divina sapiencia prius ut regente evidenciore, qua potero auctorum sententia, tractare desiderans.

The De Regimine Principum ad Regem Henricum Sextum is found in only one manuscript, B.L., Cotton MS. Cleopatra A. xiii, of which it is the first and chief item. The contents of the manuscript, inadequately described in the Cotton catalogue, are as follows:

The III Considerations right necesserye to the good governaunce of a Prince is the English translation, made in the middle of the fifteenth century, of a French tract written in 1347. The English text does not have the two poems which form the introduction and conclusion of the French tract; they are printed here as appendix I and II.
