As to Chesterfield, which accrued to them by the marriage of Baldwin the third, grandfather of Baldwin above-mentioned, with Isabella, daughter of William Briver, the description of it runs thus; “manerium de Chestrefeld, cum “redditibus et servitiis duorum tenementorum suorum de “Newbold, Barley (now Barlow), Whittington Magna, Topton “(now Tapton), Boythorp, et Ecchington, et totum wapen- “tachum prædictum;” meaning the wapentake or hundred ot Scarsdale.
