Summary
Rais thy Thoughts, O my Soul, abov all that is Mortal, and imagine with thy Self the Ineffable Joy of our Lord Jesus, yea of Angels and Men, at this thy Saviors Resurrection. Behold His Church, that was to take Production from His Blood, Life from His Death, Health from His Wounds, and now Establishment, as well as Growth from his Resurrection, rejoycing in it.
Consider how He is the Prophet to instruct, the Priest to offer Sacrifice, yea to be Himself the Sacrifice for it ; the Almighty King and Universal Monarch to Govern and Protect it. And then tell me if these Things are not Causes of thy Supremest Joy.
Divide this Church into Two Parts, The Quire, and the Body. The Church Triumphant and the Church Militant ; Place thy self in the Quire of Angels, and sing with them Hallelujahs for His Victories. Among the Saints abov, Sing also, saying, Let us rejoyce for our Lord God Omnipotent Reigneth ; by His own Right Hand, and His Holy Arm, hath He gotten to Himself the victory.
Then place thy self in the Body of His Church among the Saints Militant ; who now are Rejoycing to fill the Earth with His Magnificent Triumphs : Who Eccho to the Angels in all their Gratefull praises ; see them in their Temple. Say with them, He that hath trod the Winepress of His fathers Wrath, hath on His Vesture and on His Thigh a Name written, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.
Behold He that was Born among Beasts is now the Redemption of Men, and the Strength of Angels : He that lived among Publicans and Sinners is now known to be the King of Glory ; and is Adored by Them : He that Died among Thievs, now Lives and Reigns over Kings and Queens : He that was Bound hath Broken the Brazen Gates of Death : He who was Reviled, is now Magnified. He who lay in the Sepulchre, now sitteth in the Heavens, laughing all His Enemies to Scorn.
Behold again from the Quire the Body of His Great Temple ; and see in Magnificent Ideas, the Estate of the Church Militant.
