Summary
A brain aneurysm can remain unruptured or create a devastating intracranial hemorrhage. Throughout history, neurosurgeons have tried to understand its pathology in order to devise optimal treatment. Despite many procedures and surgical approaches, aneurysms continue to confound management. Treatments gradually progressed from ligation of proximal arteries to surgical clip placement to endovascular occlusion and to modern blood flow diversion techniques.
