Summary
This chapter identifies the geographical locations and scholarly networks in the Muslim majority countries where these scholars gained their Islamic knowledge. It also presents an analysis of how introduction of colonial rule led to marginalisation of Islamic scholarly platforms and exit of Muslim elites in favour of Westeren educational institutions. This, the chapter argues, led to stagnation in Islamic scholarship.
