Venerabili patri etc. Waltero Exoniensi episcopo, Gilbertus etc., Londoniensis episcopus etc., salutem etc. Literas venerabilis patris Domini Walteri, Dei gratia Cantuariensis archiepiscopi, totius Angliae primatis, recepimus, tenorem qui sequitur continentes:
Walterus etc., Gilberto etc., salutem etc. Serenissimus princeps, dominus noster, Dominus Edwardus, Dei gratia rex Angliae illustris, brevis sui apicem nuper nobis dirigens mandando rogavit quod, quia super diversis et arduis negotiis, ipsum et statum regni sui, et maxime terrae suae Scotiae specialiter tangentibus, parliamentum suum apud Westmonasterium in octabis Sancti Hilarii proximo fiituris [20 January 1315] tenere, et nobiscum ac cum ceteris praelatis, magnatibus et proceribus dicti regni habere proponit colloquium et tractatum, decanos et priores ecclesiarum cathedralium ac archidiaconos totius provinciae nostrae in propriis personis, capitula etiam singularum dictarum ecclesiarum cathedralium per singulares procuratores, et clerum cuiuscunque diocesis totius provinciae nostrae per duos sufficientes procuratores ad dictos diem et locum venire faceremus ad tractandum et consentiendum his quae tune ibidem in praemissis contigerit ordinari. Nos vero, volentes regiae maiestatis precibus, quantum cum Deo possumus et committimus et mandamus quatenus dictos decanos, priores, archidiaconos, ut in propriis personis, capitula etiam singula singularum ecclesiarum cathedralium ut per singulares procuratores, ac clerum cuiuscunque diocesis eiusdem nostrae provinciae, ut per duos sufficientes procuratores per singulos singularum diocesium nostrae provinciae citari mandetis quod dictis die et loco compareant et intersint, tractaturi et consensuri his quae super praemissis tune ibidem contigerit ordinari, hoc ipsum apud vestros subditos similiter exequentes. De die vero receptionis praesentium, et quid feceritis in praemissis, nos dictis die et loco una cum nominibus citatorum, in quadam schedula vestro certificatorio annexa conscriptis, quatenus ad vos attinet, certificare curetis. Et ceteros coepiscopos nostros, ut nos de suo facto, ad ipsos diem et locum, sub eadem forma idonee certificent, districtius iniungatis per patentes literas, harum seriem continentes. Datum apud Bromley, Kalendis Decembris anno Domini millesimo tricentesimo quarto decimo [1 December 1314].
Quocirca vobis mandamus quatenus decanum, archidiaconum et capitulum ecclesiae vestrae ac clerum vestrae diocesis citari faciatis, quod dictis die et loco compareant et intersint, iuxta formam et effectum mandati dicti patris.
