The archbishop's mandate

Willelmus [permissione divina Eboracensis archiepiscopus, Angliae primas et apostolicae sedis legatus], dilecto filio officiali curiae nostrae Eboracensis vel eius commissario generali, salutem, gratiam et benedictionem. Quia super quibusdam arduis negotiis nos, statum nostrum ac ecclesiae nostrae metropoliticae Eboracensis concernentibus, cum abbatibus et prioribus tarn exemptis quam non exemptis ac rectoribus, vicariis et ceteris personis ecclesiasticis quibuscunque, regularibus et saecularibus quocunque nomine censeantur, beneficia ecclesiastica infra archidiaconatum Eboracensem obtinentibus habere volumus colloquium et tractatum, vobis mandaus quatenus citetis seu citari faciatis peremptorie omnes et singulas personas ecclesiasticas huiusmodi beneficia ecclesiastica quaecunque in dicto archidiaconatu Eboracensi (ut praefertur) obtinentes, quod compareant coram nobis vel commissariis nostris pluribus aut uno, in ecclesia nostra cathedrali Eboracensi, rectores videlicet vicarii ac ceterae personae huiusmodi ecclesiasticae saeculares, die Mercurii proximo post festum Apostolorum Petri et Pauli proximo futurum [1 July 1349], abbates vero et priores ac ceterae personae huiusmodi regulares, die Iovis proximo post idem festum [2 July 1349], cum continuatione et prorogatione dierum subsequentium (si opus fuerit) nobiscum aut cum nostris commissariis, pluribus aut uno, super negotiis huiusmodi eisdem in eventu plenius exponendis personaliter tractaturi, suumque consilium et auxilium et consensum praestituri et impensuri, facturi et ulterius recepturi quod negotii huiusmodi qualitas exigit et requirit ac iustitia suadebit. De die vero receptionis praesentium citationis et executionis inde factae modo et forma earundem, ac de nominibus omnium et singulorum, tarn saecularium quam regularium in hac parte citatorum, nos vel commissarios nostros plures aut unum dicto die Mercurii tempestive, distincte et aperte certificetis per literas vestras patentes harum seriem continentes quibus annecti volumus nomina supradicta. Valete. Datum apud Ripon quarto decimo die mensis Iunii anno Domini MCCCXLIX et pontificatus nostri septimo [14 June 1349].

There is a similar citation onfos. 125v-126r of the archbishop's register, relating to the archdeaconry of Nottingham. Mandates for collecting the subsidy granted by these assemblies are copied onto fo. 163r (archdeaconries of Nottingham, the East Riding and Cleveland) andfo. 184v (archdeaconry of the East Riding).
