[57r] Convocatio praelatorum et cleri provinciae Cantuariensis facta per reverendissimum in Christo patrem et dominum Dominum Thomam, Dei gratia Cantuariensem archiepiscopum in ecclesia Sancti Pauli Londoniarum, vicesimo primo die mensis Aprilis anno Domini millesimo CCCC quarto [21 April 1404] secundum cursum et computationem Ecclesiae Anglicanae, indictione duodecimo, pontificatus sanctissimi in Christo patris et domini nostri Domini Bonifatii divina providentia papae noni, anno quintodecimo et translationis eiusdem domini archiepiscopi anno octavo.

Dicto vicesimo primo die mensis Aprilis, praefatus reverendissimus in Christo pater et dominus Cantuariensis archiepiscopus iter arripiens a manerio suo de Lambeth pervenit ad ecclesiam Sancti Pauli Londoniarum, et statim missa in eadem de Spiritu Sancto ad summum altare in ipsius ac suffraganeorum suorum et aliorum praelatorum et cleri Cantuariensis provinciae praesentia per reverendum in Christo patrem et dominum Dominum Henricum, Dei gratia Bathonensem et Wellensem episcopum, ut moris est, solemniter celebrata, accessit ad capellam Beatae Mariae eiusdem ecclesiae una cum venerabilibus patribus suffraganeis suis et aliis dictae provinciae praelatis et clero, et facta collatione ibidem coram eisdem per veneabilem virum dominum priorem Sancti Bartholomaei iuxta Smithfield Londoniis, sumpto pro themate: ‘Simon Iohannis, diligis me? Pasce oves meas’ lectum fuit certificatorium domini episcopi Londoniensis continens hunc tenorem:

Reverendissimo in Christo patri ac domino Domino Thomae, Dei gratia Cantuariensi archiepiscopo, totius Angliae primati et apostolicae sedis legato, vestrisve in hac parte locum tenentibus seu commissariis quibuscunque, Robertus, permissione divina Londoniensis episcopus oboedientiam, reverentiam et honorem debitos tanto patri mandatum vestrum reverendissimum die tertia decima mensis Martii ultimo praeterito [13 March 1404] cum ea qua decuit reverentia recepimus in haec verba:

Thomas, permissione divina Cantuariensis archiepiscopus, totius Angliae primas et apostolicae sedis legatus venerabili fratri nostro Roberto, Dei gratia Londoniensi episcopo, salutem et fraternam in Domino caritatem. Magna et indissimulata nunc prae ceteris temporibus nos impellit necessitas praelatos et clerum nostrae provinciae Cantuariensis pro quibusdam arduis et urgentibus negotiis, statum, defensionem et utilitatem ecclesiae et regni Angliae concernentibus convocare.
