Charles II summoned parliament on 20 January 1681, ordering it to meet at Oxford on 21 March. The writ of summons included the praemunientes clause, but the archbishop's mandate, dated at Lambeth on 5 February 1681 and sent out by the bishop of London, summoned the clergy to StPaul 's on 22 March. Evidently lections took place and there was some kind of meeting on the appointed day, as the following remains indicate.

Chichester
In Chichester the clergy of that archdeaconry elected George May on 25 February 1681.
