[71r] Convocatio praelatorum et cleri Cantuariensis provinciae facta per reverendissimum in Christo patrem et dominum Dominum Thomam, permissione divina Cantuariensem archiepiscopum, totius Angliae primatis et apostolicae sedis legatum, in ecclesia Sancti Pauli Londoniarum, die Lunae, videlicet vicesimo tertio mensis Iulii anno Domini millesimo quadringentesimo octavo, secundum cursum et computationem Ecclesiae Anglicanae, indictione prima, pontificatus sanctissimi in Christo patris et domini nostri Domini Gregorii, divina providentia papae duodecimi anno secundo, et translationis eiusdem archiepiscopi duodecimo.

Praefato vicesimo tertio die Iulii, missa de Sancto Spiritu, ut est moris, ad summum altare Sancti Pauli supradictae per dictum reverendissimum patrem Cantuariensem archiepiscopum solemniter celebrata, idem reverendissimus pater, una cum venerabilibus confratribus suis suffaganeis et coepiscopis suae Cantuariensis provinciae, videlicet Richardo Londoniensi, Henrico Wintoniensi, Philippo Lincolniensi, Iohanne Eliensi, Edmundo Exoniensi, Nicholao Bathonensi et Wellensi, Thoma Wigorniensi, Roberto Cicestrensi, Roberto Sarum, Richardo Roffensi et Iohanne Landavensi episcopis, quinquaginta quatuor abbatibus et quinquaginta prioribus et clero supradicto accessit ad capellam Beatae Mariae eiusdem ecclesiae, et facta ibidem collatione per eximiae literaturae virum Magistrum Robertum Stoneham artium magistrum et sacrae theologiae scholarem, sumptopro themate: ‘Exsurge, quare obdormis?’ dominus, ipsoque themate multum laudabili et pertinente ad materiam in ipsa convocatione tractandam prosecuto, exhibitum fuit certificatorium dicti domini episcopi Londoniensis de et super executione mandati dicti reverendissimi patris Cantuariensis archiepiscopi pro convocandis praelatis et clero dictae Cantuariensis provinciae sibi directi, et ibidem coram praefatis praelatis et clero per venerabilem virum Magistrum Willelmum Milton, archidiaconum Buckingham in legibus inceptorem, dicti reverendissimi patris registrarium, publice perlectum, cuius tenor sequitur et est talis:

Reverendissimo in Christo patri et domino Domino Thomae, Dei gratia Cantuariensi archiepiscopo, totius Angliae primati et apostolicae sedis legato, vestrisve locumtenentibus seu commissariis quibuscunque, Richardus, permissione divina Londoniensis episcopus, oboedientiam et reverentiam tanto patri debitas cum honore, mandatum vestrum reverendissimum nobis directum cum reverentia qua decuit nuper recepimus in haec verba:

Thomas, permissione divina [Cantuariensis archiepiscopus, totius Angliae primas et apostolicae sedis legatus] venerabili fratri nostro Domino Richardo, Dei gratia Londoniensi episcopo, salutem et fraternam in Domino caritatem. Vox in excelsis audita est lamentationis, fletus et luctus, Rachel, id est sanctae matris ecclesiae plorantis filios suos, Christiani nominis athletas, sed lacrimae suae duiturnae fletu siccantur in maxillis, quia non est qui consoletur earn, ex omnibus caris eius.
