Venerabili in Christo patri Domino Adae, Dei gratia Herefordensi episcopo, Stephanus eadem permissione Londoniensis episcopus, salutem et sincerae dilectionis continuum incrementum. Mandatum reverendi in Christo patris et domini Domini Waited, Dei gratia Cantuariensis archiepiscopi, totius Angliae primatis, recepimus in haec verba:

Walterus, permissione divina, Cantuariensis archiepiscopus, totius Angliae primas, venerabili fratri nostro Domino Stephano, Dei gratia episcopo Londoniensi, salutem et fraternam in Domino caritatem. Ad statum ecclesiarum et personarum ecclesiasticarum nostrae provinciae et totius ecclesiae et regni Angliae, nostrae mentis intuitum dirigentes, id animo firmiter alligamus, id meditatione sedula recensemus, ut ecclesia in suis iuribus et libertatibus fiilgeat; ipsiusque ministri, cuiuslibet inquietudinis et turbationis forensis materia semota, suo liberius in agendis potiantur honore. Et licet pro variatione temporum ac adverso negotiorum eventu praelatos et clerum nostrae Cantuariensis provinciae vocationibus frequentius repetitis iuxta qualitatem agendorum, quod anxie gerimus, fatigare cogeremur multotiens et inviti, instans tamen ecclesiae ac reipublicae Anglicanae evidens utilitas, sanctissimi patris et domini nostri Domini Iohannis sacrosanctae Romanae ac universalis ecclesiae summi pontificis exhortatio salubris, ac domini nostri illustris regis Angliae sollicita precum excitatio, ad convocationem praelatorum et cleri nostrae provinciae Cantuariensis in proximo faciendam arctius nos impellunt; eo praesertim quod ex tractandis et agendis in deliberatione communi honoris ecclesiae augmentum et grande commodum speramus veraciter pro venire.

Quocirca fraternitati vestrae committimus et mandamus quatenus cum debita celeritate fratribus et coepiscopis nostrae Cantuariensis ecclesiae et provinciae suffraganeis vice et auctoritate nostra iniungatis, seu faciatis iniungi; ut iidem episcopi omnes et singuli in suis diocesibus decanos et priores ecclesiarum cathedralium, abbates exemptos et non exemptos, ac archidiaconos, necnon priores exemptos conventus per se regentes, quod in propriis personis, priores vero alios non exemptos prioratus suos per se regentes, quod per se vel procuratores sufficienter instructos, necnon capitula singularum ecclesiarum cathedralium, conventus et collegia singula monasteriorum, prioratuum et quarumcunque domorum religiosarum nostrae provinciae Cantuariensis per singulos procuratores, clerum quoque cuiuslibet diocesis per duos procuratores citent, seu citari faciant peremptorie, quod compareant coram nobis in ecclesia Sancti Pauli Londoniarum, die Veneris in octabis Sancti Hilarii [20 January 1324] mane, ut convenit,
