Summary

Today, plastic pollution, like climate change, is part of everyday conversation. Plastic pollution and its associated harms dominate the news, scientific research, and environmental activism. Plastic-induced deaths of whales, seabirds, and turtles are reported regularly, and microplastics have been detected in drinking water and food.
