Summary
The presence of the American Red Cross in the Near East was ephemeral. The symbolic importance of Palestine and Jerusalem did not escape the ARC. The mission was highly technological, with cars, lorries, and pipes, but the reality of relief in Palestine was something else. The ARC terminated its mission and passed over its assets to the NER.
