Summary

An amateur cellist had the honour of playing for Rossini.

Ten years later he related that “The great master was so enchanted by my playing that he interrupted me in the middle of a cantabile passage to come and kiss me on the forehead. And from that day to this, to preserve the glorious imprint of his kiss, I have never washed my face.”
