Summary

For persons with epilepsy (PWE) who are refractory to medication, there are many health-related concerns: potential for injury, cognitive impairment, risk of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP). However, the social consequences of seizures that do not respond to medical therapy can have the greatest day-to-day impact.
