Summary
In this chapter and Chapter 4, we present the main results of our media content analysis of the degrees and forms of Europeanization of public debates in twenty-eight European newspapers. We focus on differences across the seven issue fields included in our study, across the time period 1990–2002, across the seven countries of study, and across various categories of collective actors. This chapter focuses primarily on the visibility dimension, that is, the question to what extent and in which forms political debates in European mass media have become Europeanized. Chapter 4 will then focus on the participation dimension by zooming in on the role of particular categories of collective actors in Europeanized debates.
