Summary
The goal of creating agreement is the primary purpose of any mediation session. In order for the disputants to come to an agreement, ideas for resolution of the dispute must be created and discussed. In Chapter 6 I investigated how mediators solicit proposals for resolution of the dispute in the small claims and divorce mediation sessions. In the current chapter I address how both mediators and disputants produce and respond to ideas for resolution of issues under dispute.
