Summary

Anemia is defined as a hemoglobin value that is lower than the threshold of 2 standard deviations below the median value for a healthy matched population. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines anemia in pregnancy as a hemoglobin concentration of less than 110 g/L (11 g/dL), and postpartum less than 100g/L.
