Article I
Name
The name of this organization is Hadassah, The Women's Zionist Organization of America, Inc.
Article II
Objects and Purposes
Hadassah is an organization dedicated to the ideals of Judaism, Zionism, and American Democracy.
Sec. 1 The objects and purposes of the organization are as follows:
a. To provide medical relief and to minister to the physical and spiritual well-being of needy persons in the state of Israel; to support and maintain voluntary nonprofit hospitals, community health services in immigrant camps, schools and agricultural settlements; to support and maintain a program of preventive, diagnostic and curative medical work; to distribute food, clothing and other necessities; to establish and maintain, and to assist in the establishment and maintenance of, voluntary facilities to render guidance and assistance to persons in need and to establish and maintain and to assist in the establishment and maintenance of a public health program and facilities for the education and spiritual guidance of young immigrants and to provide for and assist in their vocational training as well as for that of Israeli youth generally.
b. To encourage and support medical education in the State of Israel through the establishment and support of physicians, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, medical dental and laboratory technicians and related personnel; by granting fellowships and other assistance to medical personnel for advanced study and research and to further by clinical study, laboratory research, publication of material and other suitable methods, knowledge helpful in the prevention, control, diagnosis and treatment of all physical and psychical ailments and diseases.
c. To assist in the rescue and immigration to the State of Israel, of Jewish children and youth from areas where Jewish life and institutions are threatened and to provide in the State of Israel for such children and youth, as well as for orphans and other Israeli children and youth, facilities for their maintenance, rehabilitation, education and vocational training. To assist in the settlement of youthful immigrants in need of assistance and to provide for their rehabilitation and education; and to support a program of land reclamation and afforestation in the State of Israel.
