Although Anne Sheppard has had primary responsibility for the Greek texts in this volume, and Oleg Bychkov for the Latin, we have commented closely on each other's material and consulted on many issues, large and small. We worked together in preparing the Introduction and other preliminary material. Transatlantic collaboration was made much easier by a British Academy Small Research Grant which enabled Oleg Bychkov to spend some time in London in the summer of 2005.
