Summary
Sir:
I am gladd to heare of your health, and that God hath bless’d you with a Sonne to inheritt your name first and your fortunes after. Nor is that which your selfe observe the least degree in this blessinge: The securinge of them whom your often and daungerous sickness had made fearfull. Yett notwithstandinge I hope the Totteringe Wall which you mention shall stand longe and safe: as it well may if you laye not too much weight upon it. And I hope you will remember, for your Frends sakes as well as your owne, that a Wall that totters is not stronge enough to bee made a studdy Wall. To Gods grace and your owne best moderation I leave you, beinge desirous that you should knowe I am leavinge London and goinge to my Benefice not to returne till about Michaellmas. And about that tyme we beginn to hope againe to see the Princes Heighness well in England. God grant it: and then I shall the more contentedly rest Your very lovinge Frend
Guil: Meneve:
Durham Howse August. 2. 1623.
To the right worshipfull my very worthy Frend Sir John Scudamore Knight Baronett att Holme Lacy in Hereford-Sheire these delivered.
