In the name of God, Amen. I Robert, by divine permission bishop of Emly, being of sound mind and good memory, being at Bury St Edmunds (exempt from jurisdiction) on the last day of the month of June in the year of Our Lord fourteen hundred and forty-one. I make my testament in this way. Firstly, I bequeath my soul to Almighty God, to the Blessed Virgin Mary and to all the saints, and my body to be buried in the church of the Friars Minor of Babwell. Item, I bequeath to the high altar of the church of St Mary of the aforesaid town, for tithes and oblations omitted to be paid by me 3s 4d. Item, I bequeath to the aforesaid convent of Babwell six silver spoons, one silver cup and my small cup of agate. Item, I bequeath to my assign, my clerk Robert Cok my messuage, recently belonging to Richard Bendeste with its appurtenances which are in the aforesaid Bury, in the street called Westgate Street; to have for his heirs and assigns in perpetuity, or at least ten marks of money released from the sale of the said messuage. And I bequeath to the same Robert one mattress, one pair of blankets, one pair of linen cloths, one coverlet of bluet, one quilted doublet, one bronze vessel of two flasks, one little bronze pot and two silver spoons. Item, I bequeath to William Beton, recently my servant, one mattress, one pair of blankets, two proper linen cloths, a new coverlet and one silver spoon. The residue of all my goods I commit to my administrators and executors to sell, receive and dispose for my soul and the souls of all the faithful departed in pious works such as they shall deem will please God. But I constitute as my executors of this my testament Geoffrey Herry of Fornham, Andrew Grene of Risby and Edmund Galyon. In testament of which thing I being present have affixed my seal. Given at the place, on the day and in the year aforesaid.
