Summary
Few records were kept of the early decades of the Islington Conference, founded in 1827. Its proceedings were first reported in the press in 1856. After Daniel Wilson Jnr assumed chairmanship of the conference in 1860, verbatim reports were published by The Record until the centenary in 1927 (issued as separate booklets from 1896). Verbatim reports were then published by Charles Thynne (1928–35), Lutterworth Press (1936–39) and Church Book Room Press (1947–49), but from the 1950s papers were only sporadically published.
