Summary
In the name of God, Amen
I Domingos Pereira Sudré, as the true Christian I am, but fearing death have decided to make my testament and last will in the following form.
1
I am a native of the Coast of Africa, born in Onim and baptized on the Plantation called Trindade in the Municipality of Santo Amaro da Purificação, whose former Owner was Jerônimo Sudré.
2
I am the legitimate son of the Africans Porfírio Araújo de Argollo and his wife Bárbara [surname unknown], both deceased.
3
I have been married for over eleven years to the African freedwoman by the name of Maria Delfi na da Conceição, with whom I have had no children at all.
4
I am a member of the Brotherhood of Nossa Senhora do Rosário of Rua João Pereira, and I would like to be carried by the brothers and buried in one of the said Brotherhood's niches.
5
My funeral will be carried out in accordance with my wife's wishes, but without the slightest ostentation.
6
As my executors I hereby appoint my wife Maria Delfina da Conceição in the first place, and in the second place, Mr. Porfírio Araújo Argollo, whom I ask to please accept this will and testament.
7
I hereby declare that the property I own is a one-story house on Ordem Terceira de São Francisco street, purchased from Elpidio Lopes da Silva and his wife with a deed of sale notarized by the Notary Rodrigues da Costa on December 14, 1876, and the furnishings in my home, including a niche with prepared statues.
8
I declare that I owe nothing to anyone.
9
Seeing as I have no close relatives, I hereby make my wife, Maria Delfina da Conceição, my sole heir.
And in this way I have completed this my testament and last will and want it to have full validity, and if any clause or clauses required by law are missing, I ask the justices of His Imperial Majesty to supply them, and to execute the contents and statements herein.
