Summary

The techniques outlined below should only be used by practitioners clinically trained in their use by a competent physiotherapist. Preparation by contacting local physiotherapy service is advisable. If a local physiotherapist is available they should be contacted for assistance. The procedures outlined below should only be employed when the patient’s respiratory status demands it to optimise clinical condition for transfer.
